Hi fellow Lions,

Today I wanted to say how important it is to manage your assets! Lots of money could be on the table!

Managing Splinterlands Assets

While playing a game like Splinterlands, it's definitely a lot of fun but there are also some great and considerable monetary lessons to be learned with it. It seems that I am learning something and remembering other things that I have forgotten at least every couple of weeks!

It started today when I was poking around my accounts, seeing where I had some funds on the table and where I could do some renting. That led me down a bit of a rabbit hole but one that I sorely needed to take! I was always very generous lending out my cards to guildmates and friends so that they could play the game and get better at it while not having to spend money to rent cards of their own. This is something I still do for sure! But my guildmates have gotten a lot stronger over time which is excellent so that means I can take some cards back here and there. When I was out on the hunt for things to bring back, I noticed that I was lending out a considerable amount of cards to inactive accounts!

I've been lucky in that I've been playing the game since 2019, although not the longest time for sure but that has allowed me to collect some pretty great cards over time while playing. These are some examples of "old" cards that are quite handy!

image.png

Take for example my Sand Worm cards. If I was on my menu screen scrolling by I would only think that I had a few extra. I leave it there for many, many months and forget that I have way more than a few, I have around 30! Time to stop renting those cards and pull them back in.

image.png

So instead of maybe getting .1 DEC per day if I was lucky, which I wasn't most of the time with a level 1 card, I instead combined a bunch of them to make a level 3 and now I'm earning .42 DEC per day. Nothing to write home about but it adds up over time!

image.png

My gelatinous cubes here are another example of cards that I had a considerable amount of and they were luckily lower combine numbers since not as many people were playing at the time. That meant I was able to generate a level 5 instead of 25 level 1's earning .1 or less per day.

image.png

Now granted the numbers here aren't fantastic since I'm mostly catering to the lower level accounts with my rentals but I am able to pull in some pretty good DEC and rewards via playing, since my account is mostly a play account instead of a rental account. I feel good knowing that I'm letting my cards that I'm not actively using and aren't being delegated to friends, go to waste and that somebody is using them and helping me out a little bit along the way.

I know that there are some that make vast sums of money per day renting but I'm satisfied with the bit that I'm doing considering I am a moderate investor in the game. I've invested several thousand at this point that's for sure but I've also invested a lot of my own time and that's certainly worth it in the end of the day.

Onward and upward with Splinterlands! 🚀

I don't have a lot of cards but I could get a few to level up. I just figure i'm not a good enough player to have it matter for me. I don't see myself getting out of bronze for awhile.

Well the good thing about Splinterlands is that there are lots of strategies! One of the more recent ones I'm taking on is renting out a bunch of level 2's and 3's and that all adds up. Playing them as well is of course important but if you have some extras while you are saving up to get to the next level, put it to work and rent it out if you can! I've been doing that with my cards between levels and it's been pretty cool.

I have been doing that with my level 1 alpha cards but I never get the good rents. I'm learning though

Thanks for the post! Sand Worm is one those cards that go pretty well with many rule sets. Still use it a lot.

Yeah sand worm is certainly one of my favorites! I kind of wish I got mine to level 8 when I could have but live and learn sometimes. Hopefully can get all my reward cards to level 8 or nearby for the benefits and rent out whatever else I've got left over!

I thought renting cards uncombined is easier. Now cards are cheaper so more affordable, combined cards easy to rent out. Combining cards that can be used in all splinters, may be better !

Yeah for sure! I get it though, you only want level 1 cards for so long! Once you get a level 2 summoner and above all you want is to get higher cards. I can supply some of that demand :D

Awesome post!Cmplxty is a man of is word and like he mentioned he does really go over and above as a guild mate. From the time i joined SL he has helped with cards,SPS,Vouchers etc, even more so he has also delegated me a 75k CP Legendary GF so i can remain in Gold 3.

As a serial renter you are 100% correct by levelling cards and renting, I for 1 am always looking to rent lvl 2 upwards Commons and rares and frequently looking for lvl 3 summoners. At lvl 1 commons and rares dont move as rentals due to them being part of the starter decks. But in future when starter cards dont carry weight in battles, there will be a demand for rentals.

Epics and legendaries i rent them only at lvl 1.

Financial advise from Cmplxty is a major help.He as really saved me probably over 10k DEC in rentals easily, maybe double that when you consider the Pre EOS Legendary GF price jump.

Anyways once again, really brilliant post

Thanks man! It’s some stuff I’ve learned over time I guess. That’s the best kind lol. When we are able to pass on things we’ve learned we can inspire others to be the same type at the game in the future! I think that’s important.

For the commons and rare yeah level 2 and above is where it’s at. I’ve got a level 4 here and there for rent and it’s a lot nicer to be doing that than if I’m doing a bunch of level 1’s lol. Let’s see how that all changes when cards don’t give power in the starter decks!
