Splinterlands Saturday: Soulbound cards are here, Chaos Legion, RW, DECB, tower defense
It's Saturday, which means its time for another weekly recap of what's going on in the world of Splinterlands. After the last couple weeks, this one has been pretty tame in comparison. That said, there still is a lot going on. Let's jump right in.
Soulbound Rewards Cards
As anyone playing the game knows by now, Soulbound Rewards have been dropping in Daily Chests. As I posted about previously, a player will need over 7000 of these things to max their decks so it's going to be a long road to get them all playable for upper leagues. But, they are dropping them in "groups" as opposed to one at a time, so there is progress. So far I've managed to acquire 164 of them plus another 16 GF. No Legendaries yet but I did manage to get 4 Goldfoil of the Life Summoner. I'm very much looking forward to season's end to open around 50 chests.
Chaos Legion
Chaos Legion was in the news again as the Splinterlands team has decided to set aside 500k packs that were most likely going to be burned.
These packs are to make bronze and silver decks for the NFTy Arcade platform and we expect them to drive new user adoption. Splinterlands will burn rewards earned from these cards and if the project is unsuccessful we'll burn the cards. At no point will Splinterlands sell these cards on the market.
The move is somewhat controversial as there are people who feel this is being done in contradiction to the DAO vote to burn the remaining packs. Personally, I think it's a good idea if it does indeed drive new user adoption. The team has promised to burn them down the road if it doesn't produce the desired effect.
Riftwatchers
Riftwatchers continues it's slow journey to the next airdrop. Once Chaos packs are gone in another month or less, I expect this will pick up some. In the meantime, it's only 38k+ packs away.
DEC-Batteries
Now that the cards are out of the way, DEC-B went on sale this week. As a reminder, these are nontradeable tokens that can be purchased with DEC &/or Vouchers at a 20% discount. In other words, you can buy 100,000 worth of DEC-B for 80,000 DEC. The idea is that the DEC used now to purchase these will be burned, thus helping get the price of DEC back to peg. When future uses of DEC arise, you will be able to use these tokens for the updated amount. Sales have been steady with just under 25% of the total 2B available being sold so far. I went ahead and bought some myself since I know I'll be using a lot of DEC on land down the road. It may also come in handy for surveying our plots in the weeks ahead.
Tower Defense
Tower Defense finally has a name. SoulKeep. The team showcased a video of gameplay giving people a taste of what it's going to look like. It was not the finished product but, like I said, it was a taste of things to come.
That's pretty much it for news this week. There is another Proposal possibly in the works to keep some Chaos Legion packs from being burned in order to continue to drop them in Rewards Chests. The thought is that they are a major incentive for newbies and smaller players alike, and with the upcoming dry spell in packs between the end of Chaos Legion and the beginning of Rebellion this summer, it would be nice to continue to have these available as rewards.
Still Shopping
As for me, I'm still bargain hunting although I haven't been too aggressive lately with prices falling a little again. I did manage to find a couple BETA cards to max though, and I upgraded and maxed out another Summoner.
Again, I rarely play Wild anymore so this is basically a rental. The important thing is that it is a 505 BCX card for using on land down the road. It's not a bad card, its just that there are certainly better out there.
Same for this one. I now have three maxed out BETA commons. One from Earth, one from Life, and one Neutral. Ideally I'll find at least one from each Splinter so I am prepared for whatever my plots turn out to be.
Lastly, I had this at Level 3 and went ahead and maxed it out. With the new ruleset of Ranged Only, this becomes almost a must-have. All three traits can play a huge role in those battles. Especially the higher mana battles. So, while it wasn't quite as cheap as I wanted it to be, I feel like it's only going to get more expensive as time passes.

I been trying to get a soulbound summoner. And then I just received 5 copies of 1. I have level it up, but haven't tried it yet. I not sure what it does !
Me, too. Eternan Brune which give -2 Armor and Conscription. I leveled it to Lvl2 right away but I'm still a long way away from being able to test it out in Gold League or higher. Could be a decent counter for all the Lux Vega games you run into. Gets rid of the armor at least...

Good ol' Splinterlands. Our favorite game on the Hive platform. She's still a youngster yet isn't she? Still bringing in new players every single day.
Twin her up with the nascent GLS franchise, and they could be a double-headed Hydra acting as Sirens luring sailors onto the rocks.
Like adding logs to a fire, throw enough on and we might just set that kettle-o-hive to a roiling boil! So let's keep stacking that digital firewood, it's a good time to be a Hiver! :)

Soulkeep sounds awesome! i really like tower defense..
I've enjoyed it the couple times I've played games like it, but I haven't spent much time with them. Now that there's a reason to play one, I might spend a little more effort on it in the future.
SoulKeep is a pretty cool name.
Ha! I hadn't noticed old Franz there, but you're right, his face does look like a lion. I'm sure that's intentional with a name like Franz Ruffmane.

A lot of things happening around Splinter lands, which are effecting the Splinter lands ecosystem in a positive way, Soul bound cards are one of the hot topic right now along with Dec-Batteries, Getting A legendary Soul bound is a dream to many, hopefully yours will be full filled soon ;)
A lot of burning mechanism are coming out, which will take DEC price to go up for sure.
Thanks for the good wishes on the Legendaries. They must have worked because I got my first one last night. :-) Actually two of the same card, Sorriel the Bale, a doublestrike magic user.

It's probably usable even now because the stats don't improve much as it levels. The Blind would be nice as would the Rust, but they are not necessary to using the card. 9 is a lot of mana for a 2 damage card but there will definitely be spots for it.
yes, i think the same when i see at mana, 2 is the big mana, but you can it in high mana games, because it can directly hit the opponent on their health, instead of their shield.
Even during a slow week, it still has a ton of things happening. It's kind of crazy how there are updates each week. The summoners seem quite interesting and I haven't really bothered using it much due to it's low level.

Yeah, the Conscription ability is great and all, but you actually have to have some decent Gladius cards to really take advantage of it. It's going to be a while until a person can gather enough to use them efficiently in the higher leagues.
The way its team is working now and giving new updates every day and the way we see its landgame is also becoming more popular. Some changes have also been made which people are not liking but I have to say here that this change will be good for him for the coming period. And it's also a good thing to reward the new cards they've drawn. We can't trade card for a year, that's a good thing too. As the supply of cards dwindles, we'll see his cards prices skyrocket in the coming months. I have also bought and kept some of his cards.
