Heya hivers! how have you been? here's my entry for the Splinterlands Art Contest Week 204!
¡Heya hivers! ¿cómo han estado? ¡he aquí mi participación para el Splinterlands Art Contest Week 204!
For this illustration I wanted to make a FanArt to the beautiful Celestial Harpy. To complicate my life a little more, I chose a background with pastel tones and a pose that transmits dominance.
Para esta ilustración quise hacerle un FanArt a la hermosa Celestial Harpy. Para complicarme la vida un poco más, elavoré un fondo con tonos pasteles y una pose que transmita dominancia.
It is not the first time that I paint and texture the plumage of wings in an illustration, in fact it is my third time. I honestly consider that this kind of drawings with "flying" characters is not my forte, but for not being an expert in painting things like this, I'm very happy with the result.
No es la primera vez que pinto y texturizo el plumaje de unas alas en alguna ilustración, de hecho es mi tercera vez. Honestamente considero que no es mi fuerte este tipo de dibujos con personajes "voladores" pero para no ser una experta pintando cosas así, estoy muy contenta con el resultado.

As a first step, I make the sketch in which I capture the main idea of the illustration.
Como primer paso, realizo el boceto en el que plasmo la idea principal de la ilustración.

Once the idea was finished, I proceeded to clean up the sketch by adding more details and better precision for the lines.
Una vez culminada la idea, procedo a limpiar el boceto añadiendo más detalles y mejor precisión para las líneas.

My intention was for Harpy to be sitting in the clouds of a sunset. For this, I used this color palette with shades of pink, purple and some yellow (or orange, I'm not sure what specific color it is).
Mi intención era que Harpy estuviera sentada en las nubes de un ocaso. Para ello, utilicé esta paleta de colores con tonos rosas, morados y un tanto amarillos (o anaranjados, no estoy segura de qué color en específico es).

As for the color palette of the character, with the eyedropper tool I selected some of the colors I used for the background of the clouds, so the skin and wing tones could be easily mixed. Anyway, I edited the tone I was in to one a little lighter for the environment.
En cuanto a la paleta de colores del personaje, con la herramienta de gotero seleccioné alguno de los colores que usé para el fondo de las nubes, así los tonos de la piel y de las alas se podrían mezclar fácilmente. De todas formas, edité el tono en el que estaba por uno un poco más claro para el ambiente.

Having the base colors ready, I focused on the details. I adjusted the tonalities, saturation, shadows, glows and so on. I played with the opacities between the background and the character, combining both to give a better visual impression to the "clouds" texture.
Tiendo lista la base de colores, me centré en los detalles. Ajusté las tonalidades, saturación, sombras, brillos y demás. Jugué con las opacidades entre el fondo y el personaje, combinando ambos para dar mejor impresión visual a la textura de "nubes".

I removed the guide lines to polish the color giving it hardness. The yellow tones in the feathers, helped a lot to the type of environment, the reflection of sunlight coming from the front is much more noticeable thanks to these.
Quité las líneas guía para pulir el color dándole dureza. Los tonos amarillos en las plumas, ayudaron muchísimo al tipo de ambiente, el reflejo de luz solar que proviene de frente es mucho más notable gracias a estos.

Finally, I fixed many details, both of the background and the character, I managed to place shadows on the clouds with more sense according to the pose of the character as well as I removed opacity in the extremities of the wings, giving the feeling that they are submerged in the clouds.
Finalmente, arreglé muchos detalles, tanto como del fondo como del personaje, logré colocar sombras en las nubes con más sentido según la pose del personaje al igual que quité opacidad en las extremidades de las alas, dando la sensación de que están sumergidas entre las nubes.

Looks like she's sitting on the clouds.

The angle I am looking at her with her eyes somewhere gives me this feeling of being a lowly creature admiring some celestial being. 😊

If you only knew that I used to draw with Medibang and on my cell phone and I really liked the watercolor brushes that came with it HAHAHAHAJ

I haven't used Medibang for a long time, but I think it's a very good program, if you want I could help you with your brush selection ❤️

I'd love the help 😭💕💕 because I used to work on SAI and krita so medibang is so alien to me but I have no choice since the krita app is still in beta and sai doesn't have an app
