Djinn Apprentice

Match Rule Set

Mana Cap: 56
Rule Set: Reverse Speed and Explosive Weaponry
Splinter: Fire, Life, Earth or Dragon available - selected Fire

For the Reverse Speed with high mana cap, Fire is my go to Splinter. However I am not that familiar with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset so did not know the best way to proceed regarding it.

Strategy

Even though the summoner I selected, Tarsa, provides +1 Melee to all cards in my line up, I decided that magic with ranged follow up may be a better option regarding the Explosive Weaponry ruleset.

When creating my line up, I selected my tank with the reverse speed ruleset in mind with a speed of 1 so I should be able to go first each round. Since my tank also has the Bloodlust ability, I thought that would assist in keeping it alive for a reasonable time period during the match.

I followed up with three magic cards including Djinn Apprentice. I thought the magic would be able to bypass any armor and with the Explosive Weaponry ruleset also create damage to any adjacent cards.

I selected two cards with 3 range attack to complete my lineup. The first has the close range ability so can keep fighting even in the first position and the other is camouflaged so will not be attacked until the end. However in selecting it, I forgot about the Explosive Weaponry ruleset.

Match Play

When my opponents lineup appeared, I was a bit confused with their selection of summoner but then knew that getting your tank healed at the beginning of each round is a very important thing to occur. I do not have a healer in my line up so I am hoping that the reverse speed ruleset letting me attack first will be in my advantage.

During round 1, I lost Djinn Apprentice and two of my other cards were reduced to two health each. Their card behind the tank had a shield so was not damaged by the Explosive Weaponry ruleset. This appeared to be my downfall.

During round 2, I lost two more cards and both my tank and second cards are down to 1 health each. My only saving grace was that I was able to take out their tank and the card that prevented explosive weaponry to cause damage to the next in line of their cards. Maybe now that it is gone, I can make some progress.

Wow, the Bloodlust ability can really make a difference. My tank only had 1 health then it was able to kill two of my opponents cards with one hit due to the explosive weaponry ruleset. Now it has 3 health. I might have a chance after all.

My tank was able to kill another one and gain another health due to the Bloodlust ability. Between the two cards I have left, I think I won this match which I would not have thought at the beginning of the match.

Did It Work?

Yes, my strategy worked but I think it was more because of the summoner and cards my opponent picked then it was about my skill ability. Since Djinn Apprentice was killed in the first round, next time, I will need to either move it to a different position in the lineup or find a different card to replace it. I do not think it helped very much at all in my lineup.
