Mycelic Slipspawn

The Mycelic Slipspawn has a mana cost of 9 with 2 magic attack, 2 speed and 10 health with the Taunt ability. I added a Gold card to the lineup. Thee Gold card is level 2 and with the extra level added 1 health resulting in a total of 11 health.

At level 4, the Forcefield ability is added which will limit damage to 1 from monsters with 5+ power. At level 8, the Slow ability is added.

Match Rule Set

Mana Cap: 36
Rule Set: Taking Sides
Splinter: Fire, Life, Water, Death, Earth or Dragon available - selected Earth

With the mana cap at 36 and all splinters available for selection, I was torn between which splinter to select because all of them have good odds. I finally decided to go with the Earth Splinter using Queen Mycelic and Mycelic Slipspawn combination.

Using Myceli Slipspawn with it's Taunt ability would allow my other cards to hopefully pick off my opponents prior to it being taken out. I also added a healer to try and have my tank last longer.

I was very surprised when my opponent's starting line up was revealed and they had selected the exceptional Summoner of Grandmaster Rathe with the +1 Armor, Void Armor and Amplify abilities. I love that summoner and did not think my magic line up had a chance against it.

By the start of round 3, I had a lot better feeling about my lineup selection. Even though my opponent had taken out my tank and Mycelic Slipspawn, they only had ranged attacker left which are useless in the first position without the Close Range ability or Ruleset. At that point, I knew I had a very good chance of winning.

Did It Work?

Yes, I was very pleased with the outcome of the battle. But I do have to admit if I would have known my opponent was using that summoner, I would have probably went with a different lineup. I think that is one of the benefits of not knowing, you create a lineup based on your cards while taking the ruleset and mana cap into consideration.
