RE: SPS Governance Proposal - Crypto Gaming Recovery Fund
You are viewing a single comment's thread:
I said that Splinterlands will be able to fund it separately, but not to the same extent of course. These are 2 separate entities.
As for your numbers, you are missing this part which is huge
The SPS DAO reserves the right to alter the terms of this proposal or to stop future allocations entirely at its discretion by passing a proposal to do so.
The items you are listing in #1, #2, #3 are all irrelevant to this because the payments are not guaranteed, they are not liquid funds, and they are not being "sold". I do think all of those are important for sure though.
@fivemishras you are seeing what you want to see, but you are not seeing the truth. You said that you had lost faith in discord today and I feel bad for you. I wish you didn't and I wish I could get you to actually listen to what I am saying. But no matter how many times I tell you, you are hung up on that one outside marketing firm being the "only way we can spend marketing money". You are fixated on it and you can't understand that he is just a guy that decided how to spend money.
I am not rolling back on marketing, in fact my message is contrary to rolling back. But you only see what you want to see. I'm not even sure you know what marketing is, but I do know that you are 100% mistaken when you say that I'm scaling back. Removing a decision maker doesn't change the funding, in fact if it was a bad decision maker, then its can improve the funding. But you don't want to see that. You had your heart set on Andrew being the guy that would make things work, and there's not much I can do about it.
I'm glad you aren't using the term "conned" because that is not the truth. I think its fine if you post your disappointment, but please make sure you don't keep repeating things that I've clarified aren't true.
I am not scaling back marketing.
You may not think I know what I'm doing, and that's fair for you to think so. I realize that until I show you and anyone else that I do know what I'm doing, then there is no way to judge.
I'm happy to discuss with you via DM, I'm also happy to have a public discussion with you. But only to try to help you to understand the truth. I don't want to debate you about my intentions, I know what my intentions are and they are not debatable. But I am happy to explain in more depth my thoughts and plans any time you are ready to listen.
Also if you leave like you said today, then I will wish you well. I still will feel bad that I was unable to connect my message and objectives to you. I saw where you said you invested $40k in this new set, and it was more than you normally do, so I don't want you to feel worried or nervous either. Crypto is a risky business and as an investment its definitely tough. I believe that when people have too much in any one thing, then their mind and gut will tell then when they have too much. In this case, this might be true.
So again I wish you well whatever you decide to do, I hope even if you keep a small amount that you stick around. You are a long time player here and you've been part of our fabric and active regularly. I will be sad if you leave, but I also don't want you to worry as much as you are worried.
Feel free to reach out to me via DM and if I don't talk to you, then thank you for being here and giving the community your time and emotional investment as well. I respect that!
I invested 7k ish in the new set thinking their would be marketing. When i added all my assets up it was 40k. I don't normally check.
marketing
the activity or business of promoting and selling products or services, including market research and advertising.
advertising
the activity or profession of producing advertisements for commercial products or services.
Digital Marketing: Utilizes digital platforms and technologies, including websites, social
When we got the Hive funding and it was for marketing I expected the above. Place the ads for the game/product see if the ads work or not. Adjust as necessary. I have no preference to who or how it is done. Just advertise the game. In my head this is the usual way to market, most companies do it this way?
Are you planning a marketing campaign as described above that advertises the game itself, separate to any recovery fund campaign ? If so when is it starting and where can I see the ads
The recovery fund isn't my main concern, the lack of a separate campaign for normal marketing as I have set out above, is my concern.
Maybe I have missed understood you. I've tried to ask twice. So can you clarify for me please.
RE the recovery fund
What we've currently got is marketing, the giving out assets I have paid for, to people for free. I've experiencd this giving stuff out for free in other crypto projects. My concern is it may possibly undermine prices further.
But as I said earlier I have no idea if the recovery fund will be successful or not.
You say the items given away wont be sold. What you mean is they wont be sold by the DAO or Splinterlands. You've no idea what % of all the new users will sell once paid out or not.
As for my points 1,2,3. The DAO is giving away assets, it normally would not sell, even to help its long term funding issues. once given away they can be sold
Yes. It has already started. We have a marketing program with YGG and we also have started advertisements on X. This is just the beginning.
I have told many people on many shows, that we are going to be doing marketing. We have in fact started. We have a relatively limited budget, so in order to have a meaningful impact we have to make sure that whatever we do is measured and productive. We can have limited trials, which the 2 projects above are, but before we launch a full-blown marketing campaign, we need to improve our retention numbers. We are just weeks into the new set, and we haven't even rolled out our Foundation card earning program.
You are equating a lack of perceived activity as a sign that there has been abandonment of the marketing. I have told you that getting new players is my number 1 goal. I have to do that or I will fire myself. Of course I will need marketing to do this. More marketing than you envisioned.
I hope that clarifies this to you FM.
Yes what I meant by sold is by the DAO. They will be given out and possibly sold by the players in 1 year, 2 years, 3 years etc on the liquid tokens... and in 7 years for the packs.
You are right I have no idea how many will sell, but I do know what they CAN sell and when. The most that can be sold in 1 year would be 2m SPS from the DAO ($18k), that's if every single person sells every single amount they received. That is the downside cost for the next 12 months.
Thank you for taking the time to reply Dave
