From my side with what you are saying in regards to card investors, it is true. There IS money in the crypto market for people who want to buy and hodl NFTs. Sometimes of things that hold a lot less utility that Splinterlands cards. But there is the learning curve of deciding what is that BEST card to buy or the BEST investment that will give a return.
I think that it may be possible to start a token on Hive that will give this utility that you speak of, but I do not know enough about the blockchain to do this myself.
Much like the XCHAOS token that can be bought and traded, when holding that token, you hold a pack that is bought as part of a mass-buy. The holders are getting DEC daily which is equal to the percentage value of the SPS airdrop that they would have gotten for holding that amount of unopened packs. They also give you the DEC value of the airdrops and then finally, the packs themselves at the end.
So XCHAOS will disappear once the 14th airdrop is done.
But... if someone can make a token such as this... they could also make a set it and forget it token they can buy a share of a collective account that can buy cards with the income, rent the cards out and distribute holders with percentage rewards. Something like that.

It is difficult when it's not scripted and where a lot of critical thinking is involved. It's not easy to think about critical ideas in your local language and convert them to English inflow.

I used to be on the old Steemit blockchain and there was a 3 year gap. We had certain great ways of doing things but then a lot of real content went unrewarded and a lot of nonsense was greatly rewarded.
But that was not the reason I stopped. There were a lot of things happening in my life at that time and finally one of the guys I worked with died suddenly and it really took the breath out of me.
I have regained some of myself again and have grown since being absent. New and better things are coming!
Back in those days I was playing Steemmonsters. I actually bought Alpha packs before the game mechanics were even launched! I was involved during Beta and even though the game was getting better then, it is NOTHING compared to how great it is now!
It's great to be meeting with someone who witnessed the history of aplha launch and yes it changed alot. Since you had a gap of 3 years you can ask here or tag me anywhere on blockchain, I will reply if I can help.
