Liquidating Everything To Buy The FOMO!!!! Chaos Legion Here We Come
Hello, fellow Splinterlandians today I went crazy and bought heavily into the FOMO lol. I sold all my liquid assets today for credits to get ready for the general sale in about 10 hours as of writing this post. I sold 1000 SPS 88 HBD and 60 HIVE getting 300K in credits and will be adding some more to get another 100K so I can secure 100 packs in tomorrow's general sale.
I was uncertain what I wanted to do I really didn't want to sell my SPS but after watching @splinterlandshq stream with special guest @infidel1258 I asked a question which would be better. Do I hold my SPS/HIVE long-term or sell all of it for credits to get packs? @infidel1258 answered it and gave me a really good perspective on it, I always have a tough choice figuring out what I want to do with my assets so his reply was super helpful in guiding me to this decision. Now this is not financial advice lol but without his insight, I may have just sat there not willing to pull the trigger when everything in my gut was telling me to go for it.
Now all of our situations are different but after thinking about it I felt it was the best decision to do this. I will not be opening my packs, I will sit on these packs and use them for airdrop points it will give me 51,000 airdrop points and by the end of the airdrop, it will get me 956 SPS pretty much replenishing the SPS spent. Not only that but once the packs sell out there will be an opportunity to flip some of them if they skyrocket again.
Now I will of course open some of them and probably buy a few more depending on how quickly they go. I don't think they will be sold out in one day but I'm getting ready just in case they do. I will also look to build my collection up I'm currently sitting at 100K power and slowly but surely building it up so I can compete better in silver without renting. Currently, I can compete for the most part but leaderboards are out of the equation until I can max out a lot of cards for silver league limits.
What do you guys think did I make the right decision going all in for packs, If I could do more I would have but currently this was all I could do and I think it was the right choice. So everyone has to do what they are capable of doing at the time without ruining their finances and ending up in poverty. With most spending habits, some people can get overboard.
At the same time, with all things crypto orientated you need to be careful and acknowledge that at any time you could lose big time.
I won't be liquidating massive amounts of other assets to buy tons of packs... but I did buy 87 packs from the shop already. Plus 63 on secondary market in XChaos to be kept for later. That's 150 in total.
If I buy any more packs I will keep them unopened for some time. That said, I will probably buy more packs as I get a chance.
Cards are cheap to buy right now and I hope that a further flood will make them even cheaper.
My take is this: You need a bit of everything in this game.
You are doing right by you. Going for that CP growth. I am sitting on 260k CP and only using about 100k CP. The rest I rent out.
I might have a pretty nice collection, but I feel not competitive enough to go into Diamond. So I hope to take the low prices and build up some good summoners so I can create a good deck.
Your strategy is bold, but I believe that it will work out just fine. Keep playing! Keep posting! And grab whatever you can while you can!
Let's put it this way: Let me go ahead and keep (at least)5x Chaos Legion packs unopened for the next three years to recreate the conditions my Alpha and Beta cards enjoy.
Perhaps you can do the same and we can meet back here in 2025 and see how things look? 😉
That sounds like an awesome plan my friend, Yea like I say I still have 9k SPS staked so it wasn't all my SPS but I just feel these packs will be worth a lot in a few years or faster depending on how much this game explodes.
It was a tough decision but I'm happy I did it good luck on everything as well buddy and same to you keep posting and see you on the battlefield.

Whenever someone new to Hive gets depressed because they aren't making massive cash I challenge them to post 2 good quality posts a week and comment at least 5 times a day for a year and see if they get zero votes on their posts 😄😁😆

There is that saying in the #Splinterlands T-shirt merchandise: "Push and shove, there is not enough for everyone."
And that is true for all things in Splinterlands.
People get their quest rewards and go "Awww, 4 Credits and awww a Venari Heatsmith, I already have that.
Same as above. Collect those quest and season rewards for a full year and see what happens!
Plus, look at Beta reward cards and their value! In 3 years time then all of a sudden that Venari Heatsmith gets rarer and rarer as there are zero left to give out and we are on the next set of reward cards!

I can completely understand your approach and I think mid to longterm it is the saver one.
The packs will sell out at some point in time and then will rise in value. DEC or HIVE I am not sure about. DEC will fall sooner or later.
The only thing I am not sure about is the sellout on SPS. SPS are quite cheap currently and will get more weight int the game, so I am not selling any of them yet.
I sold nearly 240k of DEC in the last week (with around 20% loss on average) to be able to buy now 350 packs (+35). I will open 220 over the course of the airdrops commencing and keep the rest for selling later on.
I just keep my 1.100 SPS, around 68k of DEC and my few SPTs and OneUp. All the rest I sold for credits.
Everything income generated with blogging or rental of cards is now saved for direct investments into cards.

Oh for sure I had to go with SPS to get the amount I wanted but I still have a bunch staked. It was just the liquid SPS I had on hand which will pretty much be recovered by the end of the airdrop it actually will be with my daily drops still as well.

Cheers buddy like I said I won't be opening most of them and will look to the market to build and buy cards I want through there. This will all be for airdrop points and the future maybe flip some when they are 40$ or more but mainly I think it will be a good long-term hold and see option.

Yea I totally understand not wanting to sell but after some thought, I felt it was best don't get me wrong I still have a bunch staked so I'm very bullish on it but needed to do this to help secure these packs mainly for more airdrop points lol.

If I could work to make some extra I would but I'm so involved with streaming and in the community, I wouldn't be able to juggle the two and this seems to be working out hopefully long term it can provide me with enough to pay my bills and live comfortably each month.

Can't wait for the CL general release! I'm personally holding my SPS (though I can definitely understand liquidating since you'll get some of it back from airdrops), but I did unload all of my HBD in anticipation of picking up some more CL 😄
Haha right I had to do everything I could to get them I wasn't touching my staked SPS but the liquid stuff I had from daily airdrops and a few other things was ok to say goodbye to for now.

Hey Drabs - I think that your position about selling SPS but holding the packs to replenish that SPS makes a lot of sense. I think I would stress out if I sold my SPS. I've got a few plots of land and I am trying to make sure I have at least some of everything before land reveal, so that I can manage the land no matter what the devs put in place. I think that if I wasn't doing that, that I would probably do exactly what you propose in your article.

I don't understand this point. Why did you sell in the market. SPS can be used to swap directly in Splinterlands. I think there may be some fees for doing so. But It is better than dropping in price. !PIZZA
