2024 Battle Of The Day 206/366

BATTLE LINK -- July 24, 2024 -- Day 206 of 366 vs. @teut

Today's battle marked my breakthrough to 3700 rating for Modern Champion for the first time this season. The 36-mana battle had three rulesets: Up to Eleven, Fab Four, and Noxious Fumes. Only life, fire, and death were available for this limited lineup, poison matchup.

I rightly suspected my opponent would opt for life with a heavy immunity strategy. In turn, I tried my hand with Cryptic and the new suppress ability to remove it! I slapped the suppress tactic on my back two monsters and once again showed why I always prefer death over life!

Enter the Chaos Legion reward card death legendary, Usut. This flying, healing, bloodlusting baddie is the perfect monster to survive the noxious fumes while suppressing the immunity monsters on the other team. Usut's oppress ability also played a key role in the victory, tearing through Evelyn and racing Grim Smith head-to-head!

The other monster to receive suppress was Riftwing, a speedy, flying null attack monster that was weapon trained by Skok. A fast magic attacker is the ideal monster for suppress since it connects with its target as early in the round as possible. Inevitable isn't so tough without shield and immunity!

Don't sleep on Cryptic. I haven't written about too many battles with the new Rebellion summoner along for the ride. But in this narrow poison battle, Cryptic's new suppress ability trumped immunity easily. Luckily, the death monsters with scavenger and heal lasted just long enough to take out the pesky life team!
