BATTLE LINK -- August 2, 2024 -- Day 215 of 366 vs. @xsuilx

Thanks again to the SPS DAO, our tournament sponsor for this Gold Foil Wild Silver league event. Today's 40-mana battle is from Day 2 action and had 3 rulesets: Are You Not Entertained, Shades of Gray, and Unprotected.

With the Shades of Gray rule, summoners are only valuable for the abilities they grant since only neutral monsters will be available. With dragon an option, I decided to get aggressive with Akane's ambush, while my opponent opted for Risqruel's beefy range attack and flying evasion.

Who better from the neutral ranks to take advantage of ambush than today's featured card, the legendary Gladiator Tatiana Blayde? Even at Silver league, she has 5-power of attack spread over melee and range, with the advantage that each bloodlust trigger pumps the attack power by two! Close range and dodge are handy abilities when Tatiana is played as tank, but she does have somewhat low starting health.

To protect her, I leveraged the big booty of Ulundin Overseer while its flank ability let Tatiana attack from the 2nd position. Venka, of course, is another outstanding ambush option since it has a 5-power attack and hides safely in the middle of a lineup.

The main threat to a big win was their flying ability causing too many missed attacks! Speed difference was not an issue, but my Tatiana and Venka still had to contend with the dodge and flying from their Lurker. Lucky for me, my team hit four of its first five attacks, with Tatiana getting the bloodlust trigger for killing Lurker. From there, my speedy attack was able to overwhelm xsuilx's forces, with Tatiana making quick work of Venka to start Round 2.

Although I managed to win this one, I only won half of my Day 2 battles and finished with a two-day record of 13-8. On the bright side, this mark was still good enough for a 15th-place finish and a prize of 765 SPS for this tier. Congrats to @maplelicious on the 1st place win!
