DuceCrypto's S178 - SPS Reward Seasonal Report Card

Without access to my typical Report Card service from @kiokizz, I'm going to try my hand at piecing together the important information from the game client and a balance history tool from @beaker007. It might be a bit choppier than previous seasons since I'm piecing it together from new data sources.
Away we go on another hugely successful season as @altumns continues to scholar my account with a tremendous appetite for jamming Modern battles. I tried a slightly different Wild strategy, letting the bot play just enough to earn 3 levels of league promotion chests since I started in Diamond 1 this season. My Survival Bracket strategy stayed the same -- I kept a hands-on approach to letting the bot run free in the most populated bracket for the biggest rewards.
Ranked Report
Modern Performance

Holy Smokes, boy did Altumns improve in Season 178, only his second as a scholar on my account! For the sake of comparison, he played 705 modern battles in S177 and jumped up to 907 battles played in the slightly longer S178. With more Glint at our disposal, Altumns can play more battles each season!
Even more impressive is the jump in the Modern win rate. He added 172 more wins than last season in just 202 more battles. His win rate went from almost 54% in S177 to nearly 61% in S178. 552 wins from 907 battles is a strong return, and our total battles played were only behind @housewifeftw, who finished 2nd in rating. The 350K Glint for 4th spot on the Modern rating leaderboard is a welcome bonus (and potentially 35 more energy)!
Wild Performance

In Wild, the @splinterhub bot took charge of my campaign to go from Diamond 1 to Champion 1. I played so few battles in S177 that I got stuck in Champion 2, which led to my uncharacteristic demotion to Diamond 1. I placed a higher priority on ascending as many leagues as possible to maximize the level-up loot chests, so reaching 4300 was my goal.
Impressively, the bot won 71.4% of its battles to go from 3400 rating to 4320 rating in 84 battles. It was not enough to qualify for the Wild leaderboard, so I definitely left some bonus Glint on the table by falling short of the 100-battle threshold. 36 wins over 50% in a small sample size is more than I expected. I was very pleased to shut off the wild bot after just a few days of the new season, having accomplished my goal of getting to Champion 1 and allowing for the majority of energy used for Modern battle.
Survival Performance

In Survival, I ended up taking 6th place in Survival Bracket XI with about 13.7M reward shares. I was very comfortably ahead of 7th place with only 6.3M rShares and some distance behind 5th place with 19.7M rShares. Although it is the total rShares that determine our portion of the bracket's SPS reward, I was still pleased to see that I had the highest winning % of all the accounts in the Top 7 recorded for S178. Maybe toward the end of the season, I should prioritize getting more wins instead of preserving win rate. It is a delicate balance of maximizing rShares and rating.
Tournaments Report

My scholar also took care of business in the @sps.dao tournaments for Season 178. We won 17477 SPS in prizes compared to 9424 in S177. 17.4K is nearly twice as much SPS as last season, which is a huge jump. Credit goes to Altumns, who placed in the Top 4 prize bracket in EIGHT events. He placed in the Top 8 in another four events. That means he placed in the Top 8 in 12 of the 24 events Duce joined during S178.
He did not flee from a single event. What a complete 180 from my pathetic tournament performances in 2025. The tournament scholarship is going better than I ever could have dreamed. The average prize earned from an event in S178 was 728.2 SPS, derived from 17477 SPS from 24 SPS DAO events.

If I thought last season was good, I was blown away by this second season with the Modern scholar -- over 44K SPS earned from Modern alone! Even after the scholar fees, I still made out with nearly 24K SPS from Modern ranked play. Based on the 552 wins from 907 battles in S178, I got 80.4 SPS/win and 48.9 SPS/battle in Modern ranked.
Comparatively, my Wild ranked splits are more modest. I barely cracked 1K SPS with 60 wins in 84 battles. In Wild, I got 19.4 SPS/win and 13.8 SPS/battle.
In Survival, my share of the SPS pool decreased from 29K in S177 to 14.5K in S178, which is to be expected as people learn which brackets provide the best prize support. I suspect some people tried to have fun playing Survival manually, but then realized there were so few players that the prize support was nonexistent. I'm glad the recently passed proposal will address the need for stronger prize support for the manual Survival Brackets!
Finally, good golly, look at that pile of Glint. Over 3.4M Glint was earned from ranked play in S178, up nearly 1.5M from the 1.9M Glint I earned in S177. There's also an additional 350K Glint for 4th place on the Modern ranked leaderboard, bringing my final tally close to 3.8M Glint. That's sure going to buy a lot of loot chests! I might even save some Glint for my avatar -- just kidding -- the extra Glint will get spent on more energy!

I cannot believe my eyes! This is the most ridiculous $SPS Report I've ever seen. DuceCrypto brought in over 106K SPS across six main streams: Staking, Validating, Ranked, Brawl, Land, and Tournaments. Ranked led the way with just over 60K SPS from the three formats combined. Modern accounted for over 70% of the total SPS earned from ranked play. Wild was just about 1K SPS.
The total seasonal rewards for staking (holding staked SPS) and validating (delegating staked validator nodes) both finished around 1800 SPS for Season 178. Brawl provided an additional 460 SPS, so I got about 4K SPS from staking, validating, and brawling combined!
SPS from my 12 occupied plots shot up to 24.6K, making for some bountiful harvests during S178. I do expect a dip in my SPS output over the next few seasons, as I get my land reorganized and reoptimized after consolidating a bit into #PandonReach Region 41. I'm looking to trim quite a bit of my DEC expenses spent on purchasing resources in need, so the changes may not reflect on these charts, but they will definitely help the bottom line!
Finally, a season-best 17477 SPS from tournaments also helped contribute to the mind-melting SPS total of 106313 SPS received in Season 178. Of course, not all of it gets locked away as staked SPS. I pay out a fair share to my scholar for his outstanding work playing Modern and tournaments.
Although the SPS price is still slipping, I continue to HODL most of my stack, while I buy Escalation packs with the winnings from my two alt accounts. Even at the low spot price of 0.00485 USD, the 106313 SPS is valued at over $515! Inconceivable!
Of course, a big thank you for the time and effort @altumns puts into the game every day of the season. My share of additional staked SPS earned in Season 178 was a significant step up from what I could manage on my own and even a strong increase from Altumn's first season playing Duce. I am excited to see what the future brings for our partnership in Praetoria. While I'm itching to get back to Modern play, I'm still a bit limited. Until next time...

Impressive @ducecryptob,I am still behind 😂
This is insane, congrats on winning mate.
I was impressed with Splinterlands, it's a fun game.
Agreed. I enjoy playing it so much, I almost completely stopped playing Magic: the Gathering after 30 years to transition part of my collection from paper to blockchain!

Have a great season
Thank you! It has been more relaxing with a scholar, so I can focus a bit more time to reorganizing land.
