For Guild & Glory: Brawl Report #155

Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: @ducecrypto in Tier 4 with @shield-of-glory from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance, @treycrypto in Tier 3 with the @yggspl-official alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and @shaelien in Tier 3 with the always lively @the420syndicate. DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

With some guilds migrating back to Tier 3, the brawl group for Shield of Glory in Tier 4 only had eight guilds. It was tight at the top and again, The Guild of Neoxian edged us to take first when the time ran out on the combat stage. Our record of 95 wins and 44 losses was five behind first place, but 11 ahead of third place YGG Brawlers (Niflheim), and we won 163 crowns, 9314 merits, and 166 SPS in bounty.

For the second time in three brawls, @champion-slayer swept the competition going 7-0, but let's also not forget @vugtis who battles in the important Gold Foil Diamond League fray turning in a perfect 4-0 performance. I was one win away from perfection finishing 5-1 in Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League, dropping this battle to @wolvowen of Peakmonsters [Hurricane] in a 28-mana, silent summoner contest. We both chose a 4-mana Dragon summoner, but their repair and heal were poised nicely against my thinner attack and unnecessary use of Elven Mystic.

On the other hand, this Chimney Wallstop fire team did much better against @sonniwins of the first place guild in our 22-mana, melee-only fire mirror match. Once again, it is disappointing to miss out on the top spot, but we need to be more consistent with our strategy to beat the high level of competition in Tier 4.

TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)

Back in Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) was locked up in a tight battle with Yield Guild Games alliance member YGG Dragons -- and we prevailed over our rivals by a single win. However, our final record of 88 wins and 46 losses was only good enough for second place, finishing a massive 25 wins behind The Wizards in first place. We received 98 crowns, 5444 merits, and 40 SPS for second place.

For Brawl #155, @frozenpizza led us in wins with an 8-1 record, while @greatplayer2020 and @textcrawl both swept their frays with perfect 7-0 marks. Defending Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League, I turned in a pedestrian 5-3 result, well below my ~80% win rate for YGG Brawlers. However, I did win the all-important battle against @nulyan from YGG Dragons in a 50-mana silent summoner battle, although they were playing an underpowered lineup against me.

On the other hand, I lost my battle against @ragamayffin of the first place guild in a 25-mana, magic-only affair that they dominated with their void build that featured Gold Foil gladiator Flagulon Reine. That's two straight brawls we finished in second place with an empty fray to fill, so hopefully we get back on track with some full lineups for this next Brawl #156.

Shaelien & The 420 Syndicate

Talking about empty frays, The 420 Syndicate once again got hammered in a challenging brawl group that featured five Top 100 guilds. We finished in eighth place although we had a much better win rate than the guilds in sixth and seventh, but we were short around 35 battles from the maximum available to us. Our record of 41 wins and 58 losses earned us 34 crowns, 1700 merits, and 20 SPS.

With a guild-high seven wins, @jymydan led us again, while @suavesounds and I recorded six wins. I think my play in Fray 10 - Modern Gold League is getting better since I don't typically play much at Gold League besides these brawls. A couple of my favorite wins this cycle came against @splintermaan of Team Rocket in a 22-mana, silent summoner water-vs-fire encounter and @mammouth of The Anti Social Club in a 38-mana, Lily-vs-Lily mirror match.

The Gladius Cases

The Gladius Cases were extra spicy this cycle, as Duce cracked a Gold Foil common gladiator I had been missing for nearly 18 months now and Trey cracked a pair of Gold Foils including my personal favorite legendary monster. Check it out below!

New Brawl Preview

Brawl #156 is going to be a bloodbath in Shield of Glory's Tier 4 group as the competition is fierce, featuring Immortal Gods, [RKO], and three Legendary guilds. In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) has to contend with the ninth-ranked guild by BLTZR (Balthazar) which is entirely comprised of scholar accounts 700 - 729. The 420 Syndicate has a different challenge altogether since seasonal vacations for some of our guildmates mean we only filled 54 of the maximum 109 battles available this cycle.
