For Guild & Glory: Brawl Report #178

Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: @ducecrypto in Tier 4 with @shield-of-glory from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance, @treycrypto in Tier 3 with the @yggspl-official alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and @shaelien in Tier 3 with the always lively YGG 420 Fam, on Hive as @the420syndicate. WOOOOOFFFF!!!! June 13 was my last brawl report?! Life comes at you fast. Once summer festival season got in full swing with Electric Forest in mid-June, I've just been hanging on with human modern + 3x brawl + GF tournaments. A lot has happened in four months, including the rebranding of The 420 Syndicate to YGG 420 Fam, as I was able to find a sponsorship that allowed us to bring the smoky guild over to Yield Guild Games. With that being said, let's get onto the action!

DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

Shield of Glory has been on a roll in Tier 4, and we notched one of our most convincing wins in Brawl #178. Our guild record of 122-33 was just shy of an 80% win rate and carried us to 1st place going away. I was surprised to see two Peakmonsters guilds ahead of YGG Brawlers (niflheim) in 4th place this cycle. We took home a glorious 201 crowns, 11486 merits, and 204.52 SPS. It is nice to see such a dominant performance result in crown & SPS payouts over 200!

Three brawlers went undefeated: @justenjoy (9-0 wild gold), @azipoon (7-0 wild diamond), and @azircon (5-0 GF modern gold) while six more of us, including yours truly in Fray 18 - Gold Foil Modern Silver League, posted above an 80% win rate in our fray (one loss).

This is the battle that cost me the perfect record against one of my fiercest opponents, @karameru. They ignored the gladiators, distracted me in the back, and trampled all over me with Possibilus and its water friends. I got punished for putting the Dumacke Orc as sneak/opportunity cover in the back which proved unnecessary and stranded the monster.

TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)

YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) continued its strong run of form in Tier 3, taking first-place honors for the fifth straight brawl! Our guild record of 90-31 was just shy of a 75% win rate, but still earned an impressive bounty of 110 crowns, 6111 merits, and 48 SPS.

Three Brawlers went undefeated: @lebotjames (6-0 wild bronze), @teut (5-0 wild diamond), @shadowflame21 (4-0 GF modern gold) while six more players turned in one-loss performances. Defending Fray 16 - Gold Foil Modern Silver League, I went 4-2 and I'll need to do better if I want to compete for top honors in our YGG GAP4 brawl rewards.

The loss that stung the most came to @odinsonzalpha who smacked me around with their Rathe against my Possibilus. Using Iziar's taunt to split my attack, I could not get through their tank, Uriel, and my beefy melee lineup was laid to waste.

Shaelien & YGG 420 Fam

YGG 420 Fam has had inconsistent results in Tier 3 since we barely fill half our frays on most weeks. While our win rate is typically close to 50%, our fill rate is not much better. This past brawl did not go well at all, as we sputtered to a last-place finish in our group of nine. Our overall record was 22-42 which yielded 22 crowns, 1200 merits, and 16.4 SPS. Not great results, but we have a good core of battlemages and are just a few brawlers away from making an impact in Tier 3.

We had two brawlers finish with a 5-1 records: our leader @flyerchen and @jymydan. On the other hand, we had five players without a win, so maybe it was just a bad case of people missing their brawls. Either way, YGG 420 Fam can and will improve on this lackluster display.
