For Guild & Glory: Brawl Report #211

Overview

Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: @ducecrypto in Tier 5 with @shield-of-glory, the top-ranked guild in Splinterlands and the flagship guild of the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance; @treycrypto in Tier 3 with YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir), one of seven guilds in YGG Brawlers and a proud member of the @yggspl-official alliance; and @shaelien in Tier 3 with my original guild, YGG 420 Fam, formerly known as @the420syndicate. It has been a while since my last brawl report on October 2nd, but you can see it here for Brawl #178.

DuceCrypto & Shield of Glory

Although we've been battling now in Tier 5 for 11 cycles, this is my first time covering Tier 5 action in one of my brawl reports. Shield of Glory has managed a few 3rd place finishes, but competition is fierce among the seven guilds in Tier 5.

In B211, Shield of Glory sputtered to a 6th place finish with an overall record 10 battles under a 50% win rate, winning 70 and losing 80. We were only 9 wins away from a 3rd place finish, demonstrating just how tight the competition is in Tier 5. Although the placement was not what we wanted, the rewards in Tier 5 make up for the tough competition. Even in 6th place we earned 567 SPS, 7584 Merits, and 158 Crowns.

Looky here, my second clean sweep in Tier 5 on my 10th attempt in Fray 20! I did poorly in my first brawl trying to fill the Gold Foil Modern Gold League Fray 22. It was decided that I would slide back into the Gold Foil Modern Silver League Fray 20, where I played in Tier 4 as well. Once back home in Fray 20, I've finished no worse than 3-3 save for the one brawl two cycles ago that I failed to play and fled all my battles. GRRR!

With the clean sweep in B211, my overall record in Fray 20 over 10 brawls is 41-17, including my pathetic 0-5 when I failed to submit. That's an impressive 70% win rate, but with Peakmonsters leaving Tier 5 for B212, the competition next cycle will be even tighter.

TreyCrypto & YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir)

In Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) also underperformed our high standards with a 3rd place finish. Unbelievably, we ended 25 wins behind The Anti Social Club with a record of 63 wins and 53 losses. We aim to finish each brawl first, but in B211 we had to settle for third and a haul of 35 SPS, 4556 Merits, and 82 Crowns.

We were led by one-loss performances from @lebotjames (7-1), @kidsworld (6-1), and @bteim (4-1). TreyCrypto finished with a pedestrian 3-2 record. For us to regain our hold on first place, Trey has to improve to X-0 or X-1 in his Gold Foil Modern Silver League Fray 16.

Shaelien & YGG 420 Fam

Further down in Tier 3, YGG 420 Fam was spot on its average 6th place finish. If only we had a few more consistent brawlers in this guild, we could have finished 5th, just two wins behind The Forgotten Legion with a far superior win percentage (47% to 40%). YGG 420 Fam still managed to bring home 24 SPS, 2700 Merits, and 54 Crowns.

The newly passed proposal that awards wins for unfilled frays is going to hurt us until we can fill more of our spots. Shaelien was able to lead the guild with an 80% win rate finishing 4-1 in Wild Gold League Fray 9. Props to my scholar @bardot223 for holding it down in brawl these last four seasons!

The Gladius Update

Here is the gladiator collection for my three accounts:

Duce now has two max level gladiators, one legendary and one rare.

Trey has a decent amount of common Gold Foil gladiators, a few rares, and notably 2 BCX of Fina Voxom! It's just a shame that because Trey plays in a Silver League fray, I can only take advantage of a Level 2 Fina, which is 1 BCX.

Shaelien has the benefit of being able to use regular foil gladiators in brawl. Because it earns less merits each week than my other two accounts, the account has been slower to develop its gladiator collection. Hopefully with our new focus on recruitment, YGG 420 Fam will be able to add a few more talented brawlers to help fill out our ranks and compete for Yield Guild Games GAP 5 quests.

Conclusion

Overall, Brawl 211 was a bit of a letdown with our guild performances. Shield of Glory only managed 6th place from 7 guilds in Tier 5 and YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) fell to 3rd place instead of our more familiar first place finish.

Personally, Duce continued to dominate T5 Fray 20 while Trey could have done a bit better in T3 Fray 16. Maybe in B212 I'll be able to pull off a double sweep!
