Social Media Challenge -- NIGHT REAPER

Welcome to my weekly Social Media Challenge where I will discuss one of the new Rebellion Soulbound Reward Cards I used in battle this past weekend to good effect. However, before I get into a new card today, don't forget I was one of the Splinterlands Ambassadors who got to reveal one of the new cards -- Quilliun Legionary.

Today's feature card from the new Rebellion Soulbound Reward Card set is Night Reaper. Since the cards have only been available since Thursday, August 15, I only have the monster at Level 3. I was most interested in the new Wingbreak ability it gets from Level 1, but the reflection shield it gets at Level 3 definitely helped in the blast battle.

This battle replay shows the full power of the Wingbreak ability, especially in a high-mana Explosive Weaponry battle. Coincidentally, this is also a Silent Summoner battle that happens to be the Battle Mage Secret ruleset of the week, but I'm here to focus on Night Reaper and its cool new ability. WINGBREAK -- "Always targets enemy units with Flying first regardless of abilities or rulesets. +2 damage if the target has Flying."

Despite being placed AS TANK in this battle, Night Reaper's first attack in Round 1 hits the mighty Chaos Dragon, the first flying unit on my opponent's team in position 2, rather than their opposing tank, Djinn Oshannus. Night Reaper dealt Chaos Dragon four damage with the +2 damage for flying monsters! In the blast ruleset, Night Reaper also has the added advantage of blasting damage to two neighboring monsters instead of just one if it attacked the tank.

Night Reaper also has reflection shield from Level 3, which came in handy to mitigate damage in the blast battle. By placing a unit with reflection shield in positions 1 and 2, I neutralized the blast damage from tank attacks AND snipe attacks. This played out perfectly for me, taking the sting out of the snipe from Runic Skyclaw.

The plan worked so well, that my opponent's forces were almost completely wiped out after the second round of attacks. This was my first battle with this new card Night Reaper and the new ability Wingbreak. Based on the power level of the monster and the new ability, I'm excited to try more applications and level up the Dragon epic monster to Level 5 for the 4th magic damage and Level 6 for Last Stand.
