DuceCrypto's S177 - Splinter Stats Ranked Rewards Season 90 Report Card

This has got to be the latest I've ever posted a seasonal report card because it has been a torrid month of March, as my sister's wedding in Colorado took center stage. This was also the primary reason I decided to work with a scholar for my main account for the first time in over 4 years.
I knew I would not have the time to play much Splinterlands, let alone write about it, so I used Season 177, the short season at the end of February, to test the waters with an esteemed scholar who pledged to play only my account. Thanks @altumns!
Without further, let's take a peek at the numbers from my first season with a modern scholar from last month!
Match Report
Performance
| Stat | # Modern | # Wild | # Survival |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rank | Champion I20 | Champion IInull | Diamond II6 |
| Rating | 5100 | 4060 | 3360 |
| Rating High | 5120 | 4120 | 3460 |
| Ratio (Win/Loss) | 1.17 (380/325) | 1.59 (35/22) | 1.66 (387/233) |
| Longest Streak | 12 | 11 | 13 |
For the sake of comparison, I played 214 modern and 346 wild battles on my own in Season 176. With the modern scholar, he churned through 705 modern battles against just 57 wild battles.
In fact, I meant to let him play all the ranked battles in modern, but somehow I must have missed the mechanic to turn off the feature for the bot to automatically purchase the wild pass. I didn't think to turn off the bot for wild since I wasn't going to buy the wild pass. Oops!
I decided not to bother ranking up to Champion 1, and give the full serving of energy to see how much Altumns could handle. I would use glint/DEC to buy 25 energy each day before the 50% kicked in. There was also the added energy from 2 rounds of all 3 loot chests + the 3rd batch of major chests. 705 is a ton of Modern battles for a short 13-day season!
This was Altumn's first full season back playing Modern champion, so he was diligent to learn the strategies at the top tables before plowing full steam ahead into the competition. At the end of S177, he amassed close to a 54% win rate, but this was hampered by a slow first few days adjusting to the new format. I knew he would pull through with a few weeks of experience under his belt, and I wasn't disappointed.
In the very small 57-battle sample size, the wild bot won 61%. But on the other hand, the first season of the Survival Bracket saw the SplinterHub bot play 620 battles, winning 387 for 62.4% win rate. Of course, win rate is not the best barometer for success in the Survival Bracket. Factors like the bracket pool percentage and collection power affect your overall share of the $SPS pool.
Even though there is no Glint reward for placing on the Survival leaderboard, making it to 6th place in diamond is fairly impressive, considering my main account is almost all 1ofs outside of some duplicate soulbound reward cards I've kept over the years. There was definitely a nice boost of Glint for the Top 20 finish in modern, but more on that later!
Tournaments Report
It was by far my best tournament output in over a year, which makes sense because my scholar wasn't going to flee from these events I could barely make time to play. The turnaround was immediate. Of the 18 events I registered for, I fled from 4 of them in the early part of the season, and in another two, we fled Day 2 because of my poor communication.
Altumns turned in consistent results as he learned my Modern and Wild GF collection to finish highly in the most lucrative events. He finished with 6 Top 10 results on route to 9424 $SPS from the @sps.dao tournament events. This is only the beginning as he becomes more familiar with the strengths of my Wild GF collection at various leagues. YEER!

Glint season rewards will show in the season they are claimed.
This is the most I've ever earned as rewards. Nearly 28K SPS from the first season of the scholar experiment is solid work, even at 54% win rate that I know will improve with time and experience. I was only able to earn 6.5K SPS from my 214 Modern battles in Season 176, so even after the fee paid to the scholar, I more than doubled my Modern SPS rewards in Season 177.
Over the 380 wins from 705 battles in Modern, my scholar earned us 73.5 SPS/win and 39.6 SPS/battle. From the small sample size in Wild, the bot earned us 20.5 SPS/win and 12.6 SPS/battle from 35 wins in 57 battles.

I posted the screenshot because I didn't think this was possible. Obviously, some tweaks need to be made to the Survival payouts to make sure the format is a healthy and sustainable choice for our SPSDAO. But finishing in 6th place in the most competitive Wild Expert Bracket XI with nearly 400 was no small feat. I don't think it is worth 30K worth of SPS, but I'm confident the team will be back at the drawing board to find a more competitive balance of reward, especially for the manual Survival Bracket players.
1.9 million is also my biggest share of Glint to win in one season. I fully expect the earned Glint to grow exponentially. As I earn more Glint each season, I will be able to purchase more energy to win more Glint to purchase more energy. Let's see how high we can run it up, season after season. HYPE!

Make it rain! Holy heck, Batman, the downpour of SPS is no joke! Tell Rihanna I'm going to need an umbrella! All those extra Modern battles really pay off. I'm glad I have a competent scholar who can devote the time that I just don't have right now. He averaged over 54 ranked battles per day, with another 20-30 tournament battles to submit. 75+ battles is a lot of Splinterlands, I'm actually a little jealous. It used to be me...
Although the SPS price might be slipping a bit, I continue to HODL most of my stack while I buy Escalation packs with the winnings from my two alt accounts. Combining the insane 76208 SPS from rewards with the 9424 SPS from tournaments totals a mind-blowing 85632 SPS for Season 177. Even at the low spot price of 0.00494 USD, the 85632 SPS is valued at $423!
Of course, a part of that SPS goes to @altumns and another part goes to @splinterhub for the big help in the automated Survival mode. Still, my share of additional staked SPS earned in Season 177 was a significant step up from what I could manage on my own with my limited time to invest in Modern and tournament play. Once I get some of my time back, I'm sure I'll be able to find a happy compromise with my scholar so I can get a good taste of champion league competition again. But that's a problem I won't have to worry for a while because I will be focused on my sister's wedding.
Until next time...
The total valued earned view my mind!
