Fuel Your Flame - A Modern Fire Guide + Lava Launcher Giveaway!

avatar

Greetings to the third installment of my modern guide series, I hope you all are having a wonderful day. As you can tell by the title, today we're going to set the world on fire with the fire splinter! Tarsa is personally my favourite summoner from the Chaos Legion even though the consensus is fire is generally on the weaker side. The base decks offer a lot of value for the fire splinter, a lot of cards being situational but really shining when played properly.
Living Lava
To kick things off I want to introduce you to the Living Lava. He is an absolute Brute coming in with 3 attack, 1 speed, 2 armor, and 6 hp all for the cost of a measly 8 mana. He has the shield ability reducing all incoming damage from melee and ranged attacks. He shines in the first slot of any composition where you're expecting an onslaught of physical damage from your opponent. He can also be played in the back slot in sneak rulesets to really take advantage of his shield ability as usually only melee monsters would be attacking the rear.
Fineas Rage
A great card to pair with Living Lava is a reward card by the name of Fineas Rage. He is quite the card costing 7 mana while having 2 attack, a super sonic 5 speed, and a beastly 8 hp. He is stacked with the reach ability letting him attack from the second slot. If mana allows, having the Living Lava and Fineas Rage upfront is an amazing start to a winning composition.
Tenyii Striker
Another amazing card from the fire set that you would be absolutely bonkers to ignore is the Tenyii striker! He is a 5 cost, 2 damage, 2 speed, 6 hp assassin. He lurks his way to the opponents backline with his trusty sneak ability. With Tarsa's summoner ability the 3 attack Tenyii would have is more than enough to take out ill placed backline units that could potentially sway the match. All in all he is one of my favourite cards from the chaos legion set.
Serpentine Spy
One of the sneakiest cards in the entire game has to be the Serpentine Spy. He is a 3 mana, 2 attack, 3 speed, 1 hp slayer! He is an absolute machine at taking out priority targets with his opportunity ability. With the stats he receives from Tarsa he is truly a force to be reckoned with all while only costing 3 mana! Without a doubt Serpentine Spy is one of the top cards for the fire deck in the modern format.
Antoid Platoon
A card that does very well in quite a few rulesets is the Antoid Platoon. He is absolutely exceptional when it comes to the mini league mode. He is a 4 cost 1 attack, 1 speed, 2 armor, and 3 hp platoon. He is exceptional in the mini league mode especially because most cards that are costing 4 or less are hitting for an average of 1 damage, because he has the shield ability he will be taking absolutely no damage at all. There are a lot of different uses for this card and he is a blast to play with!
Exploding Rats
One card you can pick up pretty cheap that has a plethora of uses is the Exploding Rat. He is a 4 cost 2 damage, 4 speed, 1 hp varmint. He has the blast ability dealing half his damage to the foes beside his target. Using him in the opportunity, sneak, and equalizer matches are the most advised as that is where he excels. Outside of those matches he sees little use.
Scorch Fiend
For the first time I'm really going to recommend picking up the fiend for this set, the scorch fiend. He is one of the legendary fire units costing 0 mana, has 1 attack, 2 speed, and 1 hp. Powered up with Tarsa's ability you really have a formidable creature for absolutely no cost at all to your mana pool for the game. If there's one card you want to splurge on for the fire deck I would highly recommend the scorch fiend.
Fire Elemental
A great ranged card that you could definitely fit into a lot of compositions is the Fire Elemental. He is a 5 cost, 2 ranged, 4 speed, 2 hp sniper. He is equipped with the blast ability so he's doing that extra damage to the foes next to his primary target with every attack. Put him into an opportunity ruleset and you'll really see him rack up the damage.
Lava Launcher
Another great ranged card that belongs to the fire set is the reward card Lava Launcher. Lava Launcher is about as beastly as he sounds costing 9 mana, for 3 ranged damage, 3 speed, a huge 6 armor, accompanied with an admirable 5 hp. He has the close range ability so he will be dealing damage throughout the match even if he makes it into that first slot. For matches where melee isn't allowed he is an excellent choice for the first or second slot.

That about wraps up my fire guide, there are truly some great gems in the fire deck. The Chaos Legion ones are my personal favourite out of the entire set. Tenyii striker absolutely blows me away and consistently performs time and time again.
