Returning to tournaments after a year

As I mentioned in my last post, I went to check out the tournaments to basically see just how much has changed since I last played, and no better place to do it than here since I can run into people from basically every league. For those of you who have never played the tournaments before, anyone can create them, but the game regularly runs its own automated events.

These events can be joined by anyone as long as they have the required power, staked SPS, and entry fee. That said, tournaments run by the game itself are usually 'free' in the sense that they rarely fill all the way past their alloted number of reward places. So you're almost always guaranteed to get your entry fee back. Do read the descriptions though, some of them use DEC as their entry fee and pay in SPS.

Now, let's get right into the suffering shall we? I didn't realize the new wave of soulbound reward cards had released, and MY GOD are they insane.

Seriously wtf is this?! Gladiator cards can be brought into battle?! If you've never played guild brawls, gladiators are originally cards that can only be used there. Being able to bring them out into the wider game is.. something that has me oddly excited. Bloodlust is an insane ability, especially for cards that can attack more than once like quora.

While I did win that one due to sheer luck, there's no way in hell for me to win the next one.

Yeah..... No. Earth's gladiator is basically a stronger Kron the Undying, Trying to deal with a full army of tanks on top of that is not something I can do with my piddly collection of older stuff.

It wasn't all bad though, its always fun to run an owster in a novice bracket tournament in a magic mirror. (yes, only magic cards were allowed.) You can watch it here if you're curious on whether Owster is worth picking up for your own tournament forays.

I kinda forgot to talk about this so i'm gonna slot it in now, if you've never done tournaments before, please be careful going into them, they use 3 rules per game, so expect wildly different battles.

Non-Tournament Stuff

Now that I've gotten well smacked around, lets go smack some others around shall we?

It's always such a joy to use Brighton Bloom, there's nothing quite like watching your opponent miss a ton because all your cards now have 25% dodge chance. You can see it here

Fun fact, Warrior of Peace is honestly one of my favourite cards. Big, beefy, and doesn't kill itself against thorns back when Mylor was everywhere. Add something like djinn renova for more hp and you got a solid wall. You can see the battle here.

Ayy, back into Silver! Yeah.... No. Not a chance. I rented my higher level summoners back then, so now other than death and earth, which i have gold summoners for, I'm basically gonna be facing stronger opponents AND have my rewards nerfed for 'underlevelled cards'

Not a bad haul. Am surprised to see merits appearing as rewards though. No gonna complain, I always have the option of tossing myself into silver if i really wanna try my hand at rewards, just not yet.

What's Next?

Honestly? I have no idea. I've just joined a guild so i'll try my hand at a brawl in a couple of days and write my thoughts after that. But other than that, I'll probably just go write a few themed posts on Hive for the share your battle series.
