Participación para el Splinterlands Art Contest Week 281! inspirado en el Flying Squid! [Esp/Eng].

Muy buenas a todos en la comunidad, hoy les presento mi participacion inspirado en el Flying Squid para el ¡Splinterlands Art Contest Week 281! de esta semana.

Hello everyone in the community, today I present my entry inspired by the Flying Squid for this week's Splinterlands Art Contest Week 281!

La inspiración para mi dibujo es el nft de #splinterlands, el Flying Squid, que aunque no puede volar, cuenta con la agilidad suficiente para ser considerado muy peligroso para los marineros.

The inspiration for my drawing is the #splinterlands nft, the Flying Squid, which although unable to fly, boasts enough agility to be considered very dangerous to sailors.

La idea de este dibujo ademas de mi interés en este personaje, también se debió a que quería auto-retarme en hacer algo que generalmente considero tedioso, para mi es muy tedioso dibujar y colorear cadenas, dicho esto, cuando mentalice la posible combinación del Flying Squid y las cadenas, me emocione un poquito también.

The idea of this drawing, besides my interest in this character, was also due to the fact that I wanted to self-challenge myself in doing something that I generally consider tedious, for me it is very tedious to draw and color chains, that said, when I thought about the possible combination of the Flying Squid and the chains, I got a little bit excited too.

La historia que se me ocurrió va así:

"En el mar, donde se suelen ver y escuchar historias sobres grandes bestias acuáticas, se empezaron a ver y a recibir ataques más a menudo de los Flying Squid, esta situación causo conmoción entre los marineros, puesto que interrumpe su ruta normal de trabajo, además de poner en mayor riesgo sus vidas. Tanto es así que decidieron dar rienda suelta a una gran caza donde los que mataban más Flying Squid ganaban. Cierto grupo que se destacó en la caza, se encontraron con un Flying Squid extraño, este Flying Squid era ciego, pero tenía la agilidad y la predicción para evitar los ataques y atacar a sus presas, claramente este Flying Squid estaba en desventaja contra el grupo por lo que se mostró muy a la defensiva mientras trataba de escapar. Lo consiguió, aunque quedo enredado en cadenas y con unas cuantas heridas, el Flying Squid ciego logro escapar hacia las profundidades del mar mientras trataba de liberarse de las cadenas incrustadas en él."

The story I came up with goes like this: 

"In the sea, where they usually see and hear stories about large aquatic beasts, they began to see and receive attacks more often from the Flying Squid, this situation caused commotion among sailors, since it interrupted their normal route of work, in addition to putting their lives at greater risk. So much so that they decided to unleash a great hunt where those who killed the most Flying Squid won. A certain group that excelled in the hunt, encountered a strange Flying Squid, this Flying Squid was blind, but had the agility and prediction to avoid attacks and attack their prey, clearly this Flying Squid was at a disadvantage against the group so it was very defensive while trying to escape. He succeeded, although he was entangled in chains and with a few wounds, the blind Flying Squid managed to escape into the depths of the sea while trying to free himself from the chains embedded in him."

Drawing process.

Yo empece con un boceto del Flying Squid y después le hice una linea para marcar por donde iban a pasar las cadenas.

I started with a sketch of the Flying Squid and then made a line to mark where the chains would pass through.

Cuando ya tenia una idea muy clara de donde iban a pasar las cadenas y de la pocision ideal del Flying Squid para el efecto dramático, empece a marcar las cadenas.

Once I had a clear idea of where the chains were going to pass and the ideal position of the Flying Squid for the dramatic effect, I started marking the chains.

Cuando ya tenia todo el boceto bien ubicado, empece a delinearlo con lapicero negro de gel.

When I had all the sketch well placed, I started to outline it with a black gel pen.

Después de remarcarlo, le borre las lineas de grafito que se veían todavía.

After remarking it, I erased the graphite lines that were still visible.

Aquí estaba decidiendo que tonalidades iba a usar, cabe destacar que no me había decidido si hacer las clásicas cadenas grises y negras o hacer unas mas místicas con tonos algo brillantes, al final me decidí por unas amarillas con anaranjado.

Here I was deciding which shades I was going to use, it should be noted that I had not decided whether to do the classic gray and black chains or to do some more mystical ones with somewhat bright tones, in the end I decided on yellow with orange.

Quiero confesar que no estaba muy segura de conseguir un tono de color parecido con el Flying Squid original, solo seguí mi instinto para no hacerlo tan distinto al original pero a su vez no tan distorsionado.

I want to confess that I was not very sure about getting a similar color tone with the original Flying Squid, I just followed my instinct not to make it so different from the original but at the same time not so distorted.

Aquí honestamente me arrepentí de dibujar tantas cadenas, pero me gusto a su vez como quedaron, pues quedaron mejor de lo que creí originalmente.

Here I honestly regretted drawing so many chains, but I liked the way they turned out, because they were better than I originally thought. 

No tenia un azul mas oscuro por lo que me las arregle con ese tono primero.

I didn't have a darker blue so I made do with that shade first. 

Para terminar el dibujo, fui con el negro para hacer las sombras y para oscurecer un poco el fondo azul. Admito que aunque no estaba muy feliz al dibujar y colorear tantas cadenas, me gusto el resultado.

To finish the drawing, I went with black to make the shadows and to darken a little the blue background. I admit that although I was not very happy to draw and color so many chains, I liked the result.
