So many to choose from...

You're starting your Splinterlands collection. Should you invest in all splinters at once? No. You want to pick one as your favorite. If you have at least one strong splinter for your current ranking, you can rest assured DEC is coming in as long as you can pick it - which is most of the time anyway. Owning a couple of at-level legendary and epic cards of a single splinter is a lot better than having them scattered all over the place, in a way you can never use them together.

Despite summoner abilities being important, what really matters are the legendary monsters you can afford. Are there any game changing monsters of your favorite splinter? I.e., Djinn Biljka is good, but can it make that much of a difference in every single game? No. Leave that to Djinn Oshannus, Uriel the Purifier and Adelade Brightwing.

What's more, two of the monsters I've just quoted belong to the white splinter, while one of them is from the water splinter. That's it. This automatically denies the possibility of focusing on Earth, Fire or Death splinters if you're on a budget.

Strong epic cards that can combo really well with the cheapest available summoner of these splinters are also available: Prismologist and Evangelist for the life splinter, Nerissa and Wave Brood for the water splinter. This combination of epic and legendary monsters is affordable and effective.

PS: Whatever you choose, also get Legionnaire Alvar. It's just strong. And don't get Vera Salacia. It's just weak.
