Hello friends, I hope you are very well, today I want to share with you my latest work, it is a handmade sculpture to participate in the Splinterlands contest number 244, every week there is a new opportunity to demonstrate artistic skills and now I have decided to participate in a different way. I have made a sculpture of a dragon, this dragon is the Diamond Dragon card from the game Splinterlands, I took this card because I really liked its design, apart from the fact that the figure of the dragon is always associated with the dark, the hidden and the powerful. The sculpture is made with soda cans and cardboard, it is almost 40 centimeters high and the length of both wings is 35 centimeters, I worked on this sculpture for a week and a half until I was finally able to finish it, I hope that they like it.

Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir con ustedes mi último trabajo, se trata de una escultura hecha a mano para participar en el concurso número 244 de Splinterlands, cada semana hay una nueva oportunidad para demostrar las habilidades artísticas y ahora he decidido participar de una forma diferente. He realizado una escultura de un dragón, este dragón es la carta Diamond Dragon del juego Splinterlands, tomé esta carta porque me gustó mucho su diseño, a parte de que la figura del dragón siempre es asociado a lo oscuro, lo oculto y lo poderoso. La escultura está realizada con latas de refrescos y cartón, tiene una altura de casi 40 centímetros y la longitud de ambas alas es de 35 centímetros, trabajé en esta escultura a lo largo de una semana y media hasta que por fin pude terminarla, espero que les guste.

For this sculpture I used 12 soda cans and a box of cereals, I drew the easiest patterns to make the body of the dragon, the wings can usually be made easier, there are many ways to do it, but most dragons always They have the design of bat wings. For the neck and for the tail I made patterns to get rings that in turn will be joined one after the other.

Para esta escultura utilicé 12 latas de refresco y una caja de cereales, dibujé los patrones más fáciles para hacer el cuerpo del dragón, las alas por lo general se puede hacer más fácil, existe muchas formas de hacerla, pero la mayoría de los dragones siempre tienen el diseño de alas de murciélago. Para el cuello y para la cola hice patrones en para sacar anillos que a su vez irán unidos unos tras otros.

For the trunk of the body I used a sphere that is used in origami as a model, but so that it would not be completely circular, I made some modifications so that the final result was an oval. Since this piece was very large, I did not use an aluminum can but the cereal cardboard to make it.

Para el tronco del cuerpo usé como modelo una esfera que se usan en origami, pero para que no quedara completamente circular, le hice algunas modificaciones para que el resultado final fuera de un óvalo. Como esta pieza era muy grande no usé lata de aluminio sino el cartón del cereal para hacerla.

The next step is to make the neck, to make it short a total of 11 pieces, I turn each one into a ring joining them at one end with glue and holding with a clip. Then I begin to join them one by one with glue, I start with the largest one that will be used to join the cardboard trunk until I finish with the smallest one that will be used to place the head. Each piece is slightly smaller than the other so the curvature of the neck can be achieved.

El siguiente paso es hacer el cuello, para hacerlo corto un total de 11 piezas, cada una las convierto en una anilla uniéndolas por un extremo con pegamento y sujetando con una pinza. Después comienzo a unirlas una por una con pegamento, comienzo por la más grande que servirá para unir luego al tronco de cartón hasta finalizar con la más pequeña que servirá para colocar la cabeza. Cada pieza es liegramente más pequeña que la otra así se puede lograr la curvatura del cuello.

The same process was used to make the tail only a bit longer than the neck so I cut more pieces to make rings, a total of 17 pieces. Then I joined each ring with glue until completing the tail, the next step was to join the neck and the tail to the trunk, I did this using glue. Now all that remains is to cover the cardboard so that it cannot be seen.

El mismo proceso fue utilizado para hacer la cola solo que un poco más larga que el cuello así que corté más piezas para convertir en anillos, un total de 17 piezas. Luego uní cada anillo con pegamento hasta completar la cola, el sigiente paso fue unir el cuello y la cola al tronco, esto lo hice utilizando pegamento. Ahora solo queda revestir el cartón para que no se vea.

Then I started making scales for the whole body, firstly I covered the cardboard using tin cut as sharp scales, then I put pieces in a V-shaped row on the bottom of the neck. I cut templates for the whole neck at the top and the same way for the tail. Every good scary and powerful dragon must have scales!

Luego comencé a hacer escamas para todo el cuerpo, en primer lugar cubrí el cartón usando lata cortada como afiladas escamas, después puse en la parte inferior del cuello piezas en fila con forma de V. Corté plantillas para todo el cuello en la parte superior y de igual forma para la cola. Todo buen dragón aterrador y poderoso debe tener escamas!

The next step is to make the wings and then attach them to the rest of the body, I cut the templates on the aluminum and cut out the wings, then with a pen I shaped it to look like genuine dragon wings. Then I cut cardboard to make the joints that I glued on the upper part of the wings, I wanted with this shape to give the wings more strength and stability, as well as another look.

El siguiente paso es hacer las alas y luego unirlas al resto del cuerpo, corté las plantillas sobre el aluminio y saqué las alas, luego con un bolígrafo le di forma para que luciera como unas genuinas alas de dragón. Luego corté cartón en hice las articulaciones que pegué en la parte superior de las alas, quería con esta forma darle más dureza y estabilidad a las alas, además de otro look.

Then the next step was to make the head, I made it a bit similar to Gidorah, Godzilla's thousand-year-old mortal enemy, as he appeared in the movie Godzilla King of the Monsters. So I made him a lot of horns, a ragon must have a lot of horns to be very threatening. After making the head, I joined it together with the rest of the body in the neck part. Now all that remains is to make the extremities, a base and the sculpture of the Diamond Dragon will be ready.

Luego el paso siguiente fue hacer la cabeza, esta la hice un poco paracida a Gidorah, el enemigo mortal y milenario de Godzilla, como salió en la película Godzilla El Rey de los Monstruos. Así que le hice bastantes cuernos, un ragon debe tener bastantes cuernos para ser bien amenazador. Luego de hacer la cabeza la uni junto con el resto del cuerpo en la parte del cuello. Ahora solo falta hacer las extremidades, una base y estará lista la escultura del Diamond Dragond

The final step is to add the limbs, I made this one following the lizards as a model, I tried to make them long and sharp claws and to find the best way to place them, since the dragon is in full flight I didn't put them all aligned. To finish I made a base using aluminum and carbon and I placed the dragon in its place, thus this Fan-art sculpture of Diamond Dragon was finished.

El paso final es agregar las extremidades, esta las hice siguiendo como modelo las lagartijas, trate de hacerles largas y afiladas garras y de buscar la mejor forma de colocarlas, como el dragón esta en pleno vuelo no las puse todas alineadas. Para terminar hice una base usando aluminio y carón y coloqué el dragón en su sitio, así quedó finalizado este Fan-art escultura de Diamond Dragon.

This is how the Diamong Dragon was finished, I wanted to do it with other colors but luckily I found these blue aluminum cans that I think go better with the diamond, so something of the original essence of the character remains. In the middle of the process I suffered some small accidents, working with this material is risky, and since I hadn't done something that demanded so much concentration for a long time, at times I didn't know how to handle the tools well. I hope you liked it, it's always good to try something different, and since sculptures are accepted in the contest, I decided to make these with recycled materials, I hope it won't be the last sculpture I do, but rather I can continue participating. Así quedó finalizado el Diamong Dragon, quise hacerlo con otros colores pero por suerte encontré estas latas de aluminio de color azul que creo van mejor con el diamante, así que queda algo de la esencia original del personaje. En medio del proceso sufrí algunos pequeños accidentes, trabajar con este material es algo arriesgado, y como tenía mucho tiempo que no hacía algo que demandara tanta concentración por momentos no supe manejar bien las herramientas. Espero que les haya gustado, siempre es bueno intentar algo diferente, y como en el concurso se aceptan esculturas así que decidí hacer estas con materiales de reciclaje, espero que no sea la última escultura que haga sino poder seguir participando.
