Hello friends, I hope you are doing well, last week I missed participating in the contest because I had health problems, but now that little by little I have been feeling better, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to come back. I have made a Fan Art of the Medusa card, a very powerful character who has a lot of mythology in his figure, I have known Medusa since childhood, when I saw the 1981 Clash of the Titans movie, an unforgettable classic that became a work of art. educated, also because I am a literature professor and Greek mythology has always been my intellectual weakness. In my Fan Art I have made a Medusa figure with a classic design in terms of technique, since I used only charcoal pencil, my purpose was to make a Tarot card-style illustration, the one where mystical figures appear accompanied by some symbols, I think I lacked many to add but I was satisfied with my tarot card.

Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, la semana pasada me perdí la participación en el concurso porque tenía problemas de salud, pero ahora que poco a poco me he ido sintiendo mejor no podía dejar pasar la oportunidad de volver a pasar. He realizado un Fan Art de la carta de Medusa, un personaje muy poderoso y que tiene mucha mitología en su figura, conozco a Medusa desde la niñez, cuando vi la película Furia de Titanes de 1981 un clásico inolvidable que se convirtió en una obra de culto, también porque soy profesor de literatura y siempre la mitología griega ha sido mi debilidad intelectual. En mi Fan Art he realizado una figura de Medusa de diseño clásico en cuanto a la técnica, ya que usé solamente lápiz de carbón, mi propósito era hacer una ilustración estilo carta del Tarot, esa donde aparecen figuras místicas acompañadas de algunos símbolos, creo que me faltaron muchos por agregar pero quedé conforme con mi carta de tarot.

I made the sketch of a female human body with a snake, slightly changing some things from the original design, such as the claws, which I made huge, I also altered the face, removing all traces of femininity and putting a skull as a symbol instead. of terror and death, Medusa caused such great terror that she turned men into stone statues.

Hice el boceto de un cuerpo humano femenino con una serpiente cambiando ligeramente algunas cosas del diseño original, como por ejemplo las garras, las cuales las hice enormes, también alteré el rostro, quitando todo rastro de feminidad y poniendo en su lugar una calavera como símbolo del terror y la muerte, Medusa causaba un terror tan grande que convertía a los hombres en estatuas de piedra.

Once the sketch was ready, I began to draw the most difficult part: the hair. Medusa instead of beautiful hair had a swarm of poisonous snakes that made her look truly terrifying, I drew the snakes one by one and gave them volume with the shading technique.

Al tener el boceto listo comencé a dibujar la parte más dificil: el cabello. Medusa en lugar de hermosos cabellos tenía un ejambre de serpientes venenosas que hacían su aspecto verdaderamente aterrador, dibujé las serpientes una a una y les di volumen con la técnica del sombreado.

Next I begin to shade part of the body and shape the arms, in the same way I was making the claws trying to make them very sharp and threatening. Medusa in Greek mythology was so horrible that she had fangs and skin scales like a snake, so I shaped the skull face by adding sharp teeth.

Seguidamente comienzo a sombrear parte del cuerpo y darle forma a los brazos, de la misma forma fui haciendo las garras tratando de hacerlas muy afiladas y amenazadoras. Medusa en la mitotolgía griega era tan horrible que poseía colmillos y escamas en la piel como una serpiente, así que el rostro de calavera le fui dando forma agregando afilados dientes.

Then I continued making the Medusa tail to which I added sharp points on the sides, so that the part where it rests on the ground would look like a centipede, from the waist to the end of the tail. Basically I did several things, first of all I made some divisions like a Tarot card but in the opposite way, since the drawing was very large and covered the entire sheet, I added the shape of an owl since the owl represents the goddess Athenea, who cursed Medusa and turned her into a horrible monster, so I put the owl behind Medusa as a curse symbol that accompanies her and makes her more powerful.

Después continué haciendo la cola de Medusa a la cual le agregué puntas afiladas por los costados, así en la parte donde se apoya del suelo se vería como un ciempiés, desde la cintura hasta el final de la cola. En el fondo hice varias cosas, en primer lugar hice algunas divisiones como una carta del Tarot pero de forma contraria, ya que el dibujo me quedó muy grande y abarcaba toda la hoja, agregué la forma de un búho ya que el búho representa a la diosa Athenea, quien maldijo a Medusa y la convirtió en un horrible mosntruo, así que puse el búho detrás de Medusa como un símbolo de maldición que la acompaña y la hace más poderosa.

If you look, the upper line of the inverted triangle that represents the owl, passes through Medusa's neck, in the myth, Athena is the one who tells the hero Perseus that the only way to defeat the Gorgon is to cut off her head, for that reason I made that line that cuts the neck. Si se fijan, la línea superior del triángulo invertido que representa al búho, pasa por el cuello de Medusa, en el mito, Athenea es quien le dice al héroe Perseo que la única forma de derrotar a la Gorgona es cortándole la cabeza, por esi hice esa línea que corta el cuello. Creo que con estos detalles ya me puedo graduar de maestro ocultista jajaja, es broma.
