Hello friends, how are you, this is my first post in this community dedicated to content related to jewelry. I have made very few of these objects, so I decided to share something and thus participate in the weekly Splinterlands contest. For this opportunity I have chosen the Vampire Bat card, which is a very powerful bat, on previous occasions I have chosen it to make drawings, and now I have decided to make a carved wood pendant, I am not very expert in working with wood, but I really liked the result and I want to share it with you, I hope you like it. Let's get started!

Hola amigos que tal, esta es mi primera publicación en esta comunidad dedicada al contenido relacionado con la joyería. Muy poco he realizado estos objetos, así que me he animado para compartir algo y así participar en el concurso semanal de Splinterlands. PAra esta oportunidad he escogido la carta Vampire Bat, el cual es un murciélago muy poderoso, en ocasiones anteriores la he elegido para hacer dibujos, y ahora he decidido hacer un Dije en madera tallada, no soy muy experto en el trabajo con madera, pero me gustó mucho el resultado y quiero compartirlo con ustedes, espero les agrade. PROCESS

For this work I used wood that I obtained from a previous job, I liked it because it is a very soft wood, special for doing carving work like this. I cut it in two with a saw and used only one part. For this work I used a pencil, razor, copper wire, transparent varnish, and jewelry wire.

Para este trabajo utilicé madera que obtuve de un trabajo anterior, me gusto porque es una madera muy suave, especial para hacer trabajos así de tallado. La corté en dos con una sierra y utilicé solo una parte, para este trabajo utilicé lápiz, navaja, alambre de cobre, barniz transparente, y cable de bisutería.

Next, on one of the woods that I chose to work with, I drew the silhouette of a bat symbol, in this case Vampire Bat, it looked like it was Batman's, but believe it or not, I didn't even look for it as a reference, so anyway way I left it like that. To mold and shape it I used a razor.

Seguidamente sobre una de las maderas que escogí para trabajar, dibujé la silueta del símbolo de un murciélago, en este caso Vampire Bat, quedó como si fuera el de Batman, pero aunque no lo crean ni siquiera lo busqué como referencia, así que de igual forma lo deje así. Para moldearlo y darle forma utilicé una navaja.

I started to shape it, I also changed the blade for a new, sharper one, and the carving work was easier, so I shaped it little by little, starting with the wings. From there I continued to the rest of the drawing, seeking to give it shape through the lines. In this process I made my first rookie mistake, as I said before, I don't have much experience handling sharp instruments with wood, I cut myself on the lower part of one of my fingers. I should have listened when they said, not to do this at home hehehe.

Comencé a darle forma, también cambié la hojilla por una nueva, mas afilada, y el trabajo para tallar fue más facil, así que le fui dando forma poco a poco, empenzando por las alas. De ahí seguí hasta el resto del dibujo buscando darle la forma a través de las líneas. En este proceso comentí mi primer error de novato, como dije antes, no tengo mucha experiencia manejando los instrumentos afilados con la madera, me corté en la parte baja de uno de mis dedos. Debí hacer caso cuando dijeron, no hacer esto en casa jejeje.

After cutting and curing my finger, I began sanding the entire piece, so I could give it a better shape and remove those parts that were not well aligned. I did this for a long time, until I touched the wood and felt that it was soft and smooth.

Luego de cortar y curarme el dedo, comencé a lijar toda la pieza, así poderle darle una mejor forma como remover aquellas partes que no estaban bien alineadas. Esto lo hice por un buen rato, hasta tocar la madera y sentír que estaba suave y lisa.

Next I made some small cuts in the wings that I then sanded with two types of sandpaper, a thick one to remove impurities and a finer one to polish and shape it.

Seguidamente hice unos pequeños cortes en las alas que luego fui lijando con dos clases de lijas, una gruesa para quitar las impurezas y una más fina pára pulir y darle forma.

The piece was almost ready, so after leaving it well polished, I opened a small hole in the head, where the cable will go. After this I gave it a bath of varnish, I introduced the entire piece until it was completely covered, then I let it dry for an hour, I sanded it again with sandpaper to polish and gave it a second bath of varnish, I left it to dry for another hour and this is how it looked. list the piece.

Ya la pieza estaba casi lista, así que luego de dejarla bien pulida, le abrí un pequeño agujero en la cabeza, por ahí irá el cable. Después de esto le di un baño de barníz, introduje toda la pieza hasta cubrir completamente, luego dejé secar por una hora, lijé de nuevo con lija para pulir y le di un segundo baño de barníz, dejé secando por otra hora más y así quedó lista la pieza.

Finally, I put a small copper ring inside the hole that I opened for the bat, and through it I passed the cable for the necklace, as an extra decoration, I placed two wooden balls to hold the cable in a particular way so that it does not roll when use it. Finally I made the connectors with copper wire to join the cable and place it on the neck, this way it was finished.

Finalmente, puse un pequeño aro de cobre dentro del agujero que abrí al murciélago, y por ahí pasé el cable para el collar, como adorno extra, coloqué dos bolitas de madera para sujetar de manera particular el cable y que así no ruede al momento de usarlo. Por último hice con alambre de cobre los conectores para así unir el cable y colocarselo en el cuello, de esta forma quedó finalizado.

FINAL WORK

Así quedó finalizado este collar de Vampire Bat, no lo pinté de color negro por obvias razones, iba a parecer el Batarang del caballero de la noche, así que la mejor idea fue dejarlo en el color natural de la madera. Estoy compartiendo aquí gracias a mi querida @dayadam quien en su sabiduría me recomendó tiernamente esta comunidad para compartir mis trabajos de esta naturaleza, espero que les haya gustado y lo hayan encontrado interesante. Así quedó finalizado este collar de Vampire Bat, no lo pinté de color negro por obvias razones, iba a parecer el Batarang del caballero de la noche, así que la mejor idea fue dejarlo en el color natural de la madera.
