Splinterlands Art Contest 377 - Warborn Chieftain Fan Art Drawing [ENG-ESP]

Hello dear friends, greetings to all the aliens in the community! First of all, I want to wish everyone a happy New Year 2026 and hope you achieve your goals this year. To start my year, I'm doing so with a drawing to participate in the first Splinterlands contest of the year. Before I begin, I want to thank everyone for the support I received last week when my previous post was featured among many others; I'm very grateful. For this contest, I've drawn the Warborn Chieftain, a large and powerful ogre who wields a mighty axe. I created my own version with slight changes, but without losing the essence of the character. Here's my entry, and I hope you like it!

Hola queridos amigos, mis saludos a todos los aliens de la comunidad, antes que nada quiero desear a todos un feliz año nuevo 2026 y espero que logran sus metas para este año. Para comenzar mi año lo hago con un dibujo para participar en el primer concurso de este año de Splinterlands, no sin antes agradecer el apoyo recibido la semana pasada donde mi publicación anterior fue exaltada entre muchas, me siento muy agradecido. Para participar en esta oportunidad he dibujado al personaje Warborn Chieftain un gran y poderoso ogro que tiene una poderosa hacha como arma, para hacerlo hice mi propia versión con ligeros cambios pero sin perder la esencia del personaje. Aquí los dejo con mi aporte y espero que les guste.

PROCESS

I started by drawing a simple sketch of Warborn Chieftain using only a pencil. I didn't make the lines too heavy so they would be easy to erase later when I added color. To paint it, I'll use crayons and alcohol markers; I really like using this combination.

Comencé dibujando un boceto sencillo de Warborn Chieftain solamente con lápiz, no lo hago el trazo muy fuerte para que luego sean fáciles de borrar las líneas para ponerle color. Para pintarlo utilizaré colores de cera y también marcadores del alcohol, me gusta mucho hacer esta combinación.

Next, to begin painting the drawing, I add the wax crayon. Here I'm using a light green, and then I add the tones with markers. I use a light tone with the markers to blend, and then I add darker tones for the shadows. This way you can see how the face gains volume and contrast.

Luego para comenzar a pintar el dibujo voy agregando el color de cera, aquí utilizo un verde claro para luego ponerle los tonos con marcador. Utilizo con los marcadores un tono claro para difuminar y luego agrego tonos más oscuros para las sombra,s así pueden ver como el rostro va cobrando volumen y contraste.

Taking the process I used for the face as an example, I continued along the same lines for painting the entire drawing. So, I started working my way down the visible part of the body, adding green. I also drew inspiration from the Incredible Hulk, since he has very strong, visible muscles, and I wanted my version to look like that.

Tomando como ejemplo el proceso llevado a cabo en el rostro, continúo por esta ruta para la forma de pintar todo el dibujo. Así que voy bajando por la parte visible el cuerpo agregando color verde, tomé como inspiración también al increíble Hulk ya que tiene músculos visibles y muy fuertes, y quería que así se viera mi versión.

Next, I paint the leather protector I made for his left shoulder, which is held in place by a strap. Since it's leather, I use both dark and light brown paint. I also add colors and details to his left arm.

Luego voy pintando el protector de cuero que le hice en el hombro izquierdo y que está sujeto por una correa, como es e cuero utilizo color café oscuro y tambi´¿en claro para pintarlo. Así también voy agregando colores y detalles al brazo izquierdo.

Then I paint the pants a darker brown to create a contrast with the top. I also paint the axe handle and blade, both brown to make it look like wood and gray on the blade to give it a metallic look.

Luego voy pintando los pantalones de un color marrón más oscuro para que exista un contraste con la parte superior. También voy pintando el mango del hacha y la hoja, tanto de color café para que se vea hecha de madera y escala de grises en la hoja para que se vea metalizado.

FINAL WORK

So, this is how it turned out. What do you think of the result? I think it looks muscular, which is something I really wanted to achieve. Another thing that worked in my favor was the markers; mixing them with colored pencils always makes a better result. Así es como quedó finalizado ¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? creo que me quedó musculoso, y eso es algo que tenía mucho en mente al momento de hacerlo y creo que s epudo lograr. Otra cosa a mi favor fueron los marcadores, al mezclarlos con lápices de colores el resultado siempre sale mejor. Espero que les haya gustado mi primer dibujo del año, y espeor hacer muchos más y seguir participando, por ahora me despido y feliz año nuevo a todos!
