Hello friends, welcome to my participation in the Splinterlands contest number 245, this time I want to show how I made a fan-art of the Doctor Blight card, I really liked the design of this card since I am very attracted to the aesthetics of doctors at the time of the black plague. A long time ago I made a drawing with this theme for Halloween days, then I made a life-size mask, so I already have some experience with the character. I made this drawing making considerable changes and looking to give it a slightly macabre aesthetic, I hope you like it.

Hola amigos, bienvenidos a mi participación en el concurso número 245 de Splinterlands, en esta oportunidad quiero mostrar como hice un fan-art de la carta Doctor Blight, me gustó mucho el diseño de esta carta ya que me atrae mucho la estética de los médicos en la época de la peste negra. Hace mucho tiempo hice un dibujo con esta temática para los días de Halloween, luego hice una máscara de tamaño real, de manera que ya tengo cierta experiencia con el personaje. Hice este dibujo realizando cambios considerables y buscando darle una estética un poco macabra, espero que les guste.

PROCESS

Interpreting a character is exciting but at the same time somewhat difficult, at least for me, because it is about giving it a new approach where one applies what one knows or what one thinks one knows. I started with a simple sketch which I changed 4 times, since I didn't feel comfortable how it was coming out, until I found the path of what I wanted, I wanted to give the Doctor's mask a bone look, so I drew the shape of a bird skull, although due to its size I don't think it's that of a crow, which is the one always used in these illustrations.

Interpretar un personaje es emocionante pero a la vez algo difícil, al menos para mi, porque se trata de darle un nuevo enfoque donde uno aplica lo que conoce o lo que cree conocer. Comencé con un sencillo boceto el cual cambié 4 veces, ya que no me sentía cómodo como iba saliendo, hasta que encontré el camino de lo que quería, quise darle un aspecto de hueso a la máscara del Doctor, así que dibujé la forma de un cráneo de pájaro, aunque por el tamaño no creo que sea el de un cuervo, que es el que siempre se usa en estas ilustraciones.

When I had the design with which I felt more comfortable, I began to paint, using the white charcoal color I began to fill in the entire mask making the strokes irregularly to give it the appearance of bone, I made some divisions in the beak that occurred to me suddenly and the socket of the eyes I made them giving it a macabre and evil appearance.

Al tener el diseño con el que me sentí más a gusto comencé a pintar, utilizando el color carboncillo blanco comencé a rellenar toda la mascara haciendo los trazos de forma irregular para poder darle el aspecto de hueso, hice algunas divisiones en el pico qu se me ocurrió de pronto y la cuenca de los ojos los hice dándole una apariencia macabra y de maldad.

I added something different to the classic mask, I put some filters on it, it's a way to merge the old with the new, the gas masks in the illustrations have a lot but in the post-apocalyptic and cyberpunk aesthetic, I added the filter to give it that look technology that is also associated with the plague. I made the eyes in the form of a small glow, the hat I did in several ways, I wanted to make it like a witch's but the space was not enough, so I made a top hat, I added feathers around the neck to simulate a raven.

Agregué algo diferente a la clásica máscara, le puse unos filtros, es una forma de fusionar lo viejo con lo nuevo, las máscaras de gas en las ilustraciones tienen mucho pero en la estética post-apocalíptica y cyberpunk, agregué el filtro para darle ese aspecto tecnológico que también esta asociado a la peste. Los ojos los hice en forma de un pequeño resplandor, el sombrero lo hice de varias formas, quise hacerlo como el de una bruja pero el espacio no alcanzó, así que hice un sombrero de copa, agregué plumas alrededor del cuello para simular a un cuervo.

In the next step I begin to paint the outfits, starting with the hood, which I give a bluish tone, which is associated with suspense, the hat I give it some dark brown and red wine tones to give it an aging appearance. As soon as the eyes are slightly yellow, and I paint the filter of the mask in the same way, the plumage on the edges where the light reflects I paint it purple, all these colors have a supernatural connotation that gives it that essence of mystery. To finish, I paint the background with a little white to simulate light in the background, without forgetting to make a cane, this cane is decorated with a small bird skull. In this way I have finished my Fan-Art of Doctor Blight.

En el siguiente paso comienzo a pintar los atuendos, comenzando por la capucha, el cual le doy un tono azulado, que esta asociado al suspenso, el sombrero le doy unos tonos café oscuro y vinotinto para darle un aspecto de envejecimiento. en cuanto los ojos los hago algo amarillos, y pinto de la misma forma el filtro de la máscara, el plumaje en los bordes donde la luz se refleja lo pinto de color púrpura, todos esos colores tienen una connotación sobrenatural que le da esa esencia de misterio. Para finalizar pinto el fondo con un poco de blanco para simular luz al fondo, sin olvidar hacer un bastón, este bastón esta decorado con una pequeño cráneo de ave. De esta forma he finalizado mi Fan-Art del Doctor Blight

This is how this illustration was finished, I think that if I could give Doctor Blight a terrifying aspect, a very powerful card, I like to give it this orientation since I am very attracted to the dark and the occult. Así quedó finalizado esta ilustración, creo que si pude darle un aspecto aterrador al Doctor Blight, una carta muy poderosa, me gusta darle esta orientación ya que me atrae mucho lo oscuro y lo oculto.
