I don't think I had managed to share in the splinterlands art contest a female sculpture since I made a sculpture of a crone. This time I made one of a card named Beatrix Ironhand.

Step by step

You all know that I love to share the step by step of these works of art, because it is the essence of the publication; in fact, without the step by step I feel that the presentation of these publications is a bit empty.

So join me during the creative process of this work.

To begin with, I must show you the wire skeleton I made for the figure. It is a skeleton made of two types of wires, a thick one (used in construction work) and a copper one (a thinner and softer one).

It would be a sculpture in a pose that simulates movement, so I had to make him a good skeleton.

Paso a paso

Bien saben que me encanta compartir el paso a paso de estas obras de arte, pues es la esencia de la publicación; de hecho, sin el paso a paso siento que queda un poco vacía la presentación de estas publicaciones.

Por eso acompáñenme durante el proceso creativo de esta obra.

Para empezar, debo mostrarles el esqueleto de alambre que hice para la figura. Es un esqueleto hecho de dos tipos de alambres, uno grueso (que se usa en trabajos de construcción) y uno de cobre (uno más delgado y más suave).

Sería una escultura en una pose que simula movimiento, así que debía hacerle un buen esqueleto.

After making this support I started to cover it with black plasticine. I didn't take any care when placing the plasticine on the legs, I simply covered the skeleton with the plasticine.

Después de hacer este soporte comencé a cubrirlo con plastilina de color negro. No tuve ningún cuidado al colocar la plastilina en las piernas, simplemente cubrí el esqueleto con la plastilina.

Of course, first I covered the lower part and then I started to mold this plasticine. I must admit that I had a hard time shaping the legs and buttocks of the character, because they were not the right shape; in fact, it was even deformed the first time I did it, so I had to damage it a couple of times until I got the desired shape, which you can see in the image below.

Claro, primero cubrí la parte inferior y luego comencé a moldear esta plastilina. Debo admitir que me costó mucho lograr darle forma a las piernas y a los glúteos del personaje, pues no quedaban con la forma adecuada; de hecho, hasta me quedó deforme la primera vez que lo hice, así que tuve que dañarlo en un par de ocasiones hasta lograr la forma deseada, la que observan en la imagen de abajo.

On the other hand, I also molded the front area, creating that v-shape that a woman's intimate area has, trying to keep the curved shape of the waist. To mold these areas I used tools such as wooden sticks and knitting needles.

Por otra parte, también moldeé el área delantera, creando esa forma en v que tiene la zona íntima de la mujer, tratando de mantener la forma curva de la cintura. Para moldear estas áreas usé herramientas como palillos de madera y agujas de tejer.

After finishing the waist and leg area, I started working on the torso.

First I added more clay on the back to create that triangular shape of the torso, then I started smoothing the surface of the material so that the separation of the pieces of clay I was placing was not visible.

Después de terminar el área de la cintura y las piernas, comencé a trabajar en el torso.

Primeramente agregué más plastilina en la espalda para crear esa forma triangular del torso, luego comencé a alisar la superficie del material para que no se viera la separación de los trozos de plastilina que estaba colocando.

For the chest I did the same, I placed two plasticine spheres and then continued smoothing the surface until I achieved a feminine and adequate shape of the character's breasts.

Para el pecho hice igual, coloqué dos esferas de plastilina y luego continué alisando la superficie hasta lograr una forma femenina y adecuada de los senos del personaje.

Once the torso was molded, I used more plasticine to mold the shoulders and arms. Obviously these were not as thick as the legs, so I didn't use too much plasticine.

Also, as the character was a thin woman, the arms didn't have too much musculature, so I only made the basic shapes of one arm.

Una vez moldeado el torso, usé más plastilina para moldear los hombros y los brazos. Evidentemente estos no eran gran gruesos como las piernas, por eso no usé demasiada plastilina.

Además, al ser el personaje una mujer delgada, los brazos no tenían demasiada musculatura, así que solo hice las formas básicas de un brazo.

The body was practically ready, so I placed the head on the neck of the figure. I used brown skin colored plasticine, a color I obtained by mixing orange with white and a small part of black.

I placed this plasticine sphere on the wire support and began to mold it. I only molded the eye area, as I covered the lower part of the face with a black scarf.

Prácticamente estaba listo el cuerpo, así que coloqué la cabeza en el cuello de la figura. Usé plastilina de color piel morena, un color que obtuve mezclando naranja con blanco y una pequeña parte de negro.

Coloqué esta esfera de plastilina en el soporte de alambre y comencé a moldearlo. Únicamente moldeé el área de los ojos, pues la parte inferior de la cara la cubrí con una bufanda negra.

Before continuing with the hair I finished the legs of the character, specifically one of the most difficult areas of a figure (believe it or not), the feet.

As they are very small feet it took me quite a while to make them but in the end they were of a proportional size to the body of the figure.

Antes de continuar con el cabello le terminé las piernas al personaje, específicamente una de las áreas más difíciles de una figura (aunque no lo crean), los pies.

Al ser pies muy pequeños me costó bastante hacerlos pero al final quedaron de un tamaño proporcional al cuerpo de la figura.

Then I went back to the hair. I covered the entire top area with bright orange play dough. Then, with the help of a pin I made thin lines along the entire length of the clay to create an effect similar to hair strands.

The hair was fixed, since the wire held it in place, it would be elevated.

Después volví con el cabello. Cubrí toda el área superior con plastilina de color naranja intenso. Luego, con ayuda de un alfiler hice líneas delgadas a lo largo de toda la plastilina para crear un efecto parecido al de las hebras de cabello.

Quedó fijo el cabello, pues el alambre lo sostenía en su lugar, quedaría elevado.

The character was in an attack pose, so I continued making the hands with clenched fists, as he was fighting. I used the same plasticine that I used for the face of the figure; in addition, I made thin lines of white plasticine for the wrists, creating a sort of bandage on the forearms.

El personaje estaba en una pose de ataque, así que continué haciendo las manos con los puños cerrados, pues estaba peleando. Usé la misma plastilina que usé para el rostro de la figura; además, hice delgadas líneas de plastilina blanca para las muñecas, creando una suerte de vendaje en los antebrazos.

When painting the figure I used gold to color lines of this color that the character has along the costume.

I also used brown to paint the chest area and white paint to make some lines on the calves.

Al momento de pintar la figura usé dorado para colorear líneas de este color que el personaje tiene a lo largo del traje.

También usé el color marrón para pintar el área del pecho y pintura blanca para hacer unas líneas en las pantorrillas.

This character has a rather interesting weapon that would have been impossible for me to make with plasticine alone, so I decided to simply make a golden shuriken that I placed on his chest, as if he had it there ready to throw after lunging at his enemy.

Este personaje tiene un arma bastante interesante que me habría sido imposible hacer solamente con plastilina, así que decidí hacer simplemente una shuriken dorada que le coloqué en el pecho, como si la tuviera allí lista para lanzarla después de lanzarse contra su enemigo.

Once the figure was finished, I took plasticine of different colors and united them into one until I got this brown color that I used to mold the base of the figure.

Una vez terminada la figura, tomé plastilina de diversos colores y los uní en un solo hasta lograr este color marrón que usé para moldear la base de la figura.
