4+ Hours of Hive-Related Video Content Consumed While Lying in Bed

avatar

I'm feeling under the weather today even more than yesterday. Even though I can still "operate", a nagging head and muscle ache have drawn me toward lying in bed rather than moving around or sitting.

As it happens, some video content produced on Hive or for Hive started to pile up that I haven't seen yet.

That was a great time to get to them.

In total, over 4 hours of video content I listened to (and occasionally watched) today:

I wasn't paying as much attention as I usually do, because I don't feel well, but I can tell you that from the town hall I heard LAND. Everything else is kind of blurry. There may have been some promo/airdrop cards talk, marketing, and more. But seems like I filter out anything else at the moment...

It seems we might have version 0.5 of the land expansion during next week's maintenance window, but the feature will activate sometime the week after from what I heard Aggy say (December 22nd?).

That's something. In this version, land can be claimed and transformed into land deeds. We also saw a preview of the map of Praetoria and its regions.

Map from the Splinterlands Town Hall linked above.

What we won't have in land 0.5 is the positions of the plots on the continent, but they say land 1.0 will come relatively soon after (meaning the mid or second part of January, the soonest).

What I didn't understand was if land 1.0 will have the full revealing part, meaning both positioning and land attributes, or just another small increment, like position-only.

There was also a talk during the QA section about potions for land. I assume they mean such potions would be used to influence the likelihood to receive an overflowing land and also, the likelihood to have magical or occupied land.

Practically, alchemy and legendary potions for land. That's an unplanned expense for landowners, especially if you have a large number of them, but if the DEC received is burned, maybe it'll be worth it to move DEC one inch closer to the peg value. Depends a lot on the price, timing, and advance notice.

Ok, that's the news about the land expansion that remained in my mind. Everything else Splinterlands-related is secondary to me right now.

I'm going to cut this short because my back hurts already from sitting in the chair.

Yep, a little land release before the holidays is nice to have. Even if there's still a long way to gameplay still.

That map looks interesting. At the end of the day will they be unintended consequences? Like if the potion make or break the game and how the economics will find the new equilibrium (and if this will help the game gain or lose players)

There are no details about those potions as far as I know. Just a passing mention by Aggroed. I drew the conclusion they must be about the rarity and category of land, but maybe not.

Thanks Adrian, looks like things finally moving on Land!

Hopefully, they'll keep it as a main priority in the first part of the year until gameplay is released at least.

I like to play sprinterland day and night. This map looks very interesting. Web3 helps to the gamified projects to boost again.

Yes, the map is a nice thing to see this early, even though it doesn't have the functionality in-game added yet.

The podcast with Crimsonclad was very good indeed.
But Im biased because I think they are all good. Love that show

CryptoManiacs is certainly not a boring show! Not recommended to those who get offended easily by what they see or hear, though, lol.

Out of the 3 shows, I watch the cryptomaniacs but I probably should also listen to the Splinterlands related ones. Then again, I can usually get the information off of people writing Splinterlands content and the land doesn't appeal to me because I don't have land.

I can understand why people not having land don't feel as excited. The good part, in my opinion (although I might be wrong), is that PEOPLE will start playing their accounts more than having them automated after land gameplay starts and it's integrated into ranked battles.

Won't the bots figure it out later anyways? I think they tend to adapt faster than we would like. I do think manually might be better before they adapt though.

I still don't understand how land will play into the overall Splinterlands economy. Will there be similarities in the way land works in the physical world?

There are also times that I also keep listening to podcasts while lying down on my couch. I hope that you are fine now.

(Edited)

Items and spells will be the product of land (certain buildings) and they will be used in the battles as an intermediary step to influence their outcome after you can see the lineup of the opponent.

Yeah, I'm feeling better, but still not at 100%. Thanks for asking!

Good to know that you feel better now.

I could not wait to see the implementation of such development in the game. Perhaps, once I see how it is applied, I will gain a better understanding of it. The game is becoming better and better as days pass by. I love the soundtrack I am hearing now while doing battles. 😅

I love the soundtrack I am hearing now while doing battles.

I have it on mute but I may unmute it to hear the new music and sound effects.

I didn't have time to check Town Hall, so this news about the lands is a pleasant surprise to hear! Thanks for sharing the info...

It looks like you spent your time wisely while you are "locked" to bed... Usually, when I'm sick I watch some stupid sitcom or such, but you did it much better...

Get well soon, my friend!

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

I was feeling better this morning, but I needed to go out for some groceries and hopefully I won't feel worse after that.

Pretty much nothing, yeah. This release next week is a very tiny part mainly to allow those who put funds together to access better deals in the presale to split them.
