Splinterlands is definitely helping Hive. Besides the split story, I don't remember anything else creating such interest for Hive, even indirectly. But I'm sure some serious people will be looking at Hive too, the more scalable Splinterlands turns out to be.

Income and games. The market wants this. Not trashy gambling Tron dapps that create nothing. :)
I am not sure there is any traffic on Tron that is real. I think it is all gambling bots.

Yep. This is the MO that needs to be followed. It will be the layer 2 applications that garner the attention. That is what will attract new users.
