Weekly Challenge - GARGOYA SCRAPPER

(Edited)

In this share your battle challenge, we are going to talk about an amazing low-mana melee attacker that can be quite useful in Life team sets. In most cases, the monster is used in the first or second position, depending on the rule sets such as EQUALIZER that max the health of all monsters or Armour support by the team.

Once Gargoya Scrapper is supported by health and armour, I use it in the first line. However, in other times, I choose to use it in the second position to protect magic and ranged attackers in case the tank in the first position is eliminated.

Let's see the details of the battle:

The Battle Set Up

I used 2 melee attackers, 1 magic attacker and 2 ranged attackers with General Sloan ( +1 Ranged Attack).

The positions of the team was based on protecting the ranged attackers as they will be making 3+3+3 = 9 attacks per round while Magic can deal +1 and melee attackers can deal +2 in a round.

The idea is to maximize the security of ranged attackers, unless there is a rival monster with sneak attack, and to have a balanced set.

Prior to the match, I examined the earlier battles of the rival and I realized that she/he mostly uses Fire element and the rule sets were mostly the same.

So, I strengthen my melee tanks with Gargoya Scrapper and my magic attacker, Time Mage, slowed down the rival team. Shield of Chaos Knight decreased the damage received, Gargoya Scrapper handled Opportunity and Blast attacks and the others dealt the serious damage.

The Strength of My Set Up

I cared about the damage that Blast and Opportunity may hit my ranged attackers. Thus, Gargoya Scrapper and Time Mage were there to take the damage to protect the ranged ones.

Shield + Second Tank + Magic Attacker were providing enough security to the team. Also, slowed down rivals and fragile attackers of them helped me wipe them out once they lost the first tank in their team.

As Life team is always good at handling tanking very well, I did not have serious threat to my attack carriers. However, we also had some cons in my team set.

The Weaknesses of My Set Up

Though my rival did not use sneak ability earlier, she/he may have used sneak for the first time in this battle. So, I took a risk by putting my ranged attackers in danger by not strengthening the back line of defense.

Also, the rival team was fragile enough for me to eliminate them easily. If the team had a strong second tank to take damage of my team on itself, then it would not be easy for my team to eliminate them to win.

A possible addition to my set up may be using another magic attacker to the team to have a better balance of Melee, Ranged and Magic attackers. However, it worked fine with General Sloan.

The Result

I won the match and Gargoya Scrapper did its best to protect magic and ranged attackers from Opportunity and Blast damage. At the end of the battle, the team could deal the ideal damage and the set up was not exploited by the attacks of the rival monsters.

If you want to provide more security, one more monster at the last line may secure the ranged attackers for 1-2 attacks of monsters with sneak ability.

Watch the battle and share your suggestions for me to strengthen my set up for the next battles. I'm sure there are several other monsters that can be used for my team to work better with both Gargoya Scrapper and the others.
