Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - Possibilus and Arkemis the Bear!

In this blog, I like to talk about the new Water Summoner, Possibilus, as well as the new promo unit, Arkemis the Bear, and why they work very well together.

Possibilus is a Legendary Water summoner with +2 health, Trample and Reach ability that it will bestow on its allies. On first look, it might looks underwhelming cause it looks like it only helps with Melee units and a lot of melee units already have Reach. Trample also isn't a commonly use ability plus Water already have a very good tank, DiemonShark, with trample. So at first look, it doesn't seem to be even better than the current Water Rare summoner, Keyla Frendul.

Arkemis is a Common Neutral unit that costs 12 mana to summon. At level 1, it has 3 melee damage, 2 speed, 10 health and with a Protect ability. By the time it reached level 4, it will gain another ability, Halving. Halving cuts the attack (regardless of melee, range or magic) of enemy unit that it hits by half. At level 7, it gains yet another ability, Forcefield, which reduce all incoming enemy damage that is 5 and above power to just 1.

At its max level, level 10, Arkemis will have melee damage, 4 speed, 12 health and gain the final ability, Enrage, which further increase its speed and damage.

Lets take a look at a modern ranked match I had using both Possibilus and Arkemis in the setup. The battle restrictions are:

Possibilus6SummonerI could use Quix or Possibilus in this match. Normally I would go with Quix cause it is not a high mana match. But I wanted to test out Possibilus more now that I just got myself Arkemis the Bear.
Arkemis the Bear121stVery expensive unit to summon but I needed its Protect and Halving ability. Usually I like to put it in 2nd position in a high mana match but in this match, I have to put it in 1st position because the match has Explosive Weaponry ruleset.
Tide Biter32ndTide Biter has a decent attack but more importantly Reflection Shield ability. It will help shield itself and my backline from blast damage.
Hardy Stonefish13rdIt is just a meat shield for me in this match as it has Armor and will also have some health points from Possibilus ability.
Pelacor Bandit34thMy last unit. I put it as the last tank because it has Flying ability and decent speed. Enemy unit will find it hard to hit this unit plus now it has Armor as well as 2 extra health making it more likely to survive longer.

I didn't like what I saw at first when I look at my opponent lineup. My opponent surprisingly also went with Possibilus. I also saw DeepLurker in the lineup which could cause problem for me. The only thing I was relieve of is I don't see any enemy unit with Reflection Shield.

My Arkemis reduce my opponent's DiemonShark damage while manage to tank well but my opponent DeepLurker is causing plenty of problem by picking out my Hardy Stonefish and indirectly also causing blast attack onto my Pelacor Bandit. It might have been better not to add Hardy Stonefish.

Opponent's DeepLurker killed off my Hardy Stonefish and then with Trample proceed to try to kill off my Pelacor Bandit as well. Luckily it misses. This is how scary Trample is especially now every of your enemy units has it. My Arkemis killed off the enemy Hardy Stonefish as well but no Trample was trigger as it was killed off via a Blast damage. Hmm...

The opponent's DeepLurker missed again while I proceed to take out the opponent's Igor Darkspear and Albatross.

My Tide Biter killed off the opponent's DiemonShark and through Trample proceed to hit the Chaos Agent. My Pelacor Bandit then hit the enemy DeepLurker and through blast killed off the Chaos Agent. Finally my Arkemis one-shot the weaken DeepLurker to win me the match.

CONCLUSION ON POSSIBILUS AND ARKEMIS
Possibilus is a great summoner. People tends not to think much of the its abilities but they are really good.

+2 Health is great especially when you add a healer in your lineup. Having that extra 2 health could means getting an extra +1 hp from healing each round.

Trample is amazing for melee Tanks and melee units with Opportunity. It gives these units the potential to do dual attack. If you have a Stampede ruleset it is even more powerful.

Reach isn't that bad too. You now can put a dual tank with Possibilus as the summoner. You can put a unit with Void in front and a Arkemis at the 2nd position and now your Possibilus are protected from magic attack while able to hit at enemy front tanks and halving their attacks.

Arkemis' Halving is an amazing ability. Currently the only other unit with Halving is the Halfling Alchemist. Being able to cut down your opponent damage by half would makes your tank last way longer. Arkemis is a hard tank to kill, Arkemis with Possibilus' +2 health is even harder to kill.
