Battle Mage Secrets Weekly Challenge! - Earthquake (ENG/ITA)

cover.png

Hello to all Splinterlands friends!!!

Monsters with the "Flying" ability are highly sought after and appreciated in the world of Splinterlands. This is because, in addition to having a 25% chance to dodge Melee and Ranged attacks, this type of monster takes no damage in battles with Earthquake as the Ruleset.

The element specialized in cards with Flying is undoubtedly the Dragon, to which the only summoner, Brighton Bloom, belongs. For now, he is the only summoner that grants the Flying ability to his entire team. While not a very rare ability, in some challenges, it can truly be a game-changer.

And that's what we'll see in this week's Battle Mage Secrets!!!

Earthquake.png

Earthquake: With this ruleset, monsters without the Flying ability are hit with a 2 melee points attack each round. Apart from flying monsters, it's a good idea to deploy cards with Heal or those with a substantial amount of Health and Armor, hoping they last as many rounds as possible.

Here is the link to the battle I want to show you:

And these are the game rules:

A fairly generous Mana Cap of 51, and besides Earthquake, we also have Lost Magic. It's a shame because in this type of challenge, I really like to use monsters with magical attacks as they are essential for bypassing the opponents' Armor points.

And here's the battlefield:

I made quite a mess in this challenge: I chose Helios Matriarch as the summoner, hoping to select a Gladius monster, which I didn't include in the team. Nevertheless, the +1 in Speed can help avoid some opponent hits. In the Tank position, I deployed Drybone Barbarian, followed by Uriel the Purifier, Venari Marksrat, Gargoya Devil, Prismologist, and finally War Pegasus. This makes a total of 3 Flying monsters out of 6.

On the other hand, my opponent leaned towards the Dragon element, with Drake of Arnak as the summoner. In the first position, a powerful level 5 Djinn Chwala was placed, followed by 4 flying monsters in order: Nectar Queen, Pelacor Mercenary, Runic Skyclaw, Fire Spitter, and finally Mythic Headhunter.

As I mentioned earlier, I made too many mistakes in this challenge and paid for it with a heavy defeat, lasting only 5 rounds, all clearly dominated by my opponent. Perhaps with a different summoner, I would have found more benefit, and maybe by choosing more flying monsters. However, I must say that the opposing team was truly powerful at very high levels, with monsters like Pelacor Mercenary at level 8 and Djinn Chwala at level 5. It wouldn't have been an easy challenge even with different card choices.
