Part 22...If I were a new player, would I be able to play this game? Dust to Diamond!

I started this series on my Main account so that I could start my noob account (this one) without any outside help. So that is still the goal. however I'm going to use whatever means available that doesn't involve extra fiat money to help this account along. This was my last season summary. not just eos but the whole last season.

Rewards__ guufbawl_20220831 20220915.png

While it was decent, it wasn't great. Notice the pittance of SPS rewards. This season is going a little better but still remains to be seen. Couple more days for that.

But getting back to last season. It was tough. Playing against bots. Scraping and scrounging to get into bronze 1 or silver 3. It ain't easy. Especially when most of your cards have to be rented because what little you earn is not enough to buy cards and rent. they changed the rewards from DEC to SPS. and this is where the rubber meets the road so to speak. They basically alienated any new players from coming on board and staying. Because with the new rewards, it automatically sweeps into Staking. And when you unstake you don't get ANY sps immediately. you have to wait 1 week before you get 25% of the unstaked sps. 1 SPS is only getting around 90-100 DEC. Try renting enough good cards for a good deck for 2 weeks on 2 sps. and not only that but if you are just starting out, it takes about a week to 2 weeks to even get 1 sps from battles in the first place. so for the entire season last season; I received .243 SPS. That's pathetic. 2 weeks of playing and that doesn't even help with a few days of renting.

Fortunately for me I had some sps stashed away before the rewards structure changed. I'm still struggling to make enough to rent, but I'm wanting to earn enough to buy cards. So I started renting a few of my cards. It gets me 1-2 dec a day which helps. But still not enough to break out of bronze. And certainly not enough to build up a treasure chest of cards. But I'm not giving up. As a noob, Splintertalk is one way of earning a few coins that can help me to buy cards or packs in order to get a chance at some air drops or even opening a pack and getting much needed summoners or epics or even legendaries.

I was fortunate to join a laid back guild and I mentioned the challenge I was doing. One of the guildies dropped me an Oshannus. I didn't ask for any help, but it was much appreciated. It did help me tremendously even now it still does. So onward I go, 2 more days for EOS and I'll see if my luck changes a little and get a little boost in SPS so I can swap for DEC and buy some cards. Until then, Join me as I go from:

Great article. Nice to see someone try and do the same as i do, trying to build a deck from scratch and no fiat money whatsoever. And as you point out, is getting harder now that they changed rewards from DEC to staked sps. But i will also continue on my journey to at least a silver 3 deck. Cheers, and keep battling!
