Djinn Renova | 3 hours Painting

Two contests in one day

You can't believe it, can you? Well, neither can I, and I'm making two publications in one day, yes, I Hadley the one who normally only uploads one drawing a week and then disappears completely, and this morning I uploaded my participation to Cosmic Creations, the contest proposed by the Alien Art Hive community.

But I also wanted to participate in the Splinterlands weekly contest, but I was very short of time, so today I present to you Djinn Renova, the Splinterlands character that I have drawn in record time, or at least for me, as it says in the title, it has taken me 3 hours to make this drawing, and it is something that I have never been able to achieve, I know that the painting lacks too many details and arrangements, but it is the first time that I achieve a result like this in such a short time. And excuse me if I'm too short in this post, there are exactly 10 minutes left to close the contest and I want to be in it.

🔰Process🔰

-Step 1:

As time was very limited, I could not make a very dynamic scene, so I focused only on the character, the protagonist would be his cloud or Djinn gas and of course the upper part of her body. There was no time to correct the right hand

-Step 2:

To color faster, I gave some lights and shadows in grays, then select and separate in different layers each section of what I would be working on, having the skin, the hair, the cloud and the little clothes in new layers, then use the color correction option or Ctrl+U to give color to each layer to have quickly the base colors.

-Step 3:

Having each element of the painting in different layers allowed me to block these layers so I could quickly detail each element without fear of painting any unwanted area. I also put the sketch layer in "overlay" mode, so that it would not be completely black but would adapt to the new tones of the color palette.

-Step 4:

I removed the excess lines to be able to detail at ease, as I was in a hurry it was best to continue using my usual style of digital painting, in which I try to give the greatest volume possible without contours, it is more complicated but I am completely adapted to it, so this Maybe there are no pretty lines like in the organic ship I did this morning for the Alien Art Hive contest.

-Step 5:

I owe you the background, I definitely wouldn't have time to do it at all, so I've simply left some brushstrokes with color tones that make the character stand out, the smoke of the lower part of her body has enchanted me, although it seems to me that maybe it looks too dense and the dark green tone makes me think of a poisonous fog hahaha. But despite the short time I had and my stubbornness of wanting to have this piece for Saturday before 5 pm CST, I feel it has turned out very well, in the end it has been 3 hours of work that have motivated me to have something I liked in a very short period of time.

Imagine how short of time I was that I finished the painting at 4:45, and I uploaded the post and the participation comment to Splinterlands at 4:59, but without any writing in the painting step by step, all to have the post on time, now it's 6:14 pm and I'm editing the post so you can read everything as it should be, sorry if you have found the post incomplete. 😅

I will leave you a GIF with the whole process on it, so you can better appreciate the illustration process.

See you in a future post!
