SPS Player Staking

Staking of SPS on players will soon begin.
This post is my interpretation of the SPS white paper section on SPS staking on Ranked battles.

Schedule

The schedule for SPS Ranked Battle Rewards is set for Q2 2022. To me that means sooner rather than later. IE in the next 2 to 6 weeks.

Calculations

Reward shares are calculated based off the number of SPS staked on the player.

Staking SPS formula

The payout of SPS is based off reward_shares and a calculation of how many SPS are staked on the player.

If you stake 10 SPS on yourself as a player you can get paid out 1% of your potential SPS payout. At 1000 SPS you could get 50% of the potential SPS payout.

Reward shares

As with the current rewards system you take your Reward shares cubed /1000/1000. Then you apply the above percentage to see your share of SPS rewards pool.

Each league level pays out about 50% more than the level below.

Sweet spot

I believe the sweet spot on staking SPS on yourself is around 420 SPS. This would give you 30% Staking and 30% Player payout. An additional 10 SPS staked on yourself would give .5% additional payout.

Staking the 10 SPS on a player of equal rating without any staked SPS would give you a payout of 1% vs the .98% (.49%+.49%)you would receive staking on yourself.

Staking the 10 SPS on a player in a higher league may also give you a better payout.

@achim03 Would you mind if I stake 10 SPS on one of your accounts to see what it pays?

My strategy

I am currently at Silver 1 with a collection power of over 70K. I have not accumulated a lot of SPS at this point. I plan on targeting 420 SPS staked on myself and then use additional SPS to stake on other players with a rating better than myself which do not have a lot staked on them.

Based off my recent payout of 2.3 DEC for RP earned of 9270, I believe there are

If I assume that 200 million SPS will be staked on players.
250,000 SPS per day in each Pool.
10% of Ranked rewards has SPS staked on them.
Apply my 29.58% of 420 shares
I receive image.png SPS per battle for each side Staking/Player.
Here is my best guess at what you will be paid at each level of SPS staked and topped out in each league. Adjust for ECR and bonuses as needed.

Thanks. There are a lot of assumptions in there but it give me something to work with for when they release the real numbers for the caculations.

That's a very interesting calculation that you made here. So far I haven't really gone into the details of how player staking will look like in detail. It's nice to go through your post and I know already much more now :-).

Thanks for the tip. There are several other use cases for SPS in the white paper that will be put into place this year. Guild Brawls, etc.
