Modern Splinterlands seemed like a beautiful experience from mid last season.
It flowed nicely. Manners were all around.
People opened doors for each other.
There was the tipping of one's hat as we passed each other in the street.
I am sure that I even saw @weirdbeard draping his cape over a puddle so @yabapmatt wouldn't get mud upon his shoes.
Competitions for the "Finest Gentleman" were being ran & @MattClarke was coming second in them - the Age of Nobility had arrived.
Until, this season...
There's SPS in dem thar Hills!
Every, Splinterlander, worth their broadcasting salt was spruiking the Rewards available in Modern.
Like an 80's Kung Fu Movie, it lit a Beacon attracting the Heavy Weights of Splinterlands.
Much like the lesson you learn in any high purse event - you just can't cut the mustard.
Woah! Woah! Woah!
Things must be getting serious when everybody seems to have a Quora, Llama, Kitty ... and that's in Bronze!
Aaaaah, yup.. just a little bit of reward for me efforts!
Bronze is tough! I've had jaunts in Diamond that left me able to walk.
This time I require a wheelchair.
According to, Splintercards.com, I always win...
but not this Season
The cool thing is that the games are still fun to play.
I'm surprised about how few chests that I've earned, given that many of the games have been fun, and competitive.
It's a great to see so many high level players entering Modern.
I just didn't expect the stream of high level players would be hanging around Bronze for the whole Season.
It does demonstrate the mass influx into Modern.
I find Wild a whole lot easier to Win in comparison.
It seems that, to avoid treading water the whole Season in Modern, I'll split my time playing in both.
That way, I might churn a few Quest Chests to balance out the lack of EOS rewards.
Cards, cards, cards - I need to ramp up the range of cards that I have.
As much as, some people, thought that SPS staking had taken away their card bling. The current level of quality in Modern Bronze League, means that, Card Bling is still a very important part of the whole equation.
Entry Level Shenanigans for Newbies
I quite enjoy the suffering I am experiencing.
Plus, I am not only just playing.
I dabble in most of the Splinterlands Universe areas.
But, if I was a new player, the street signs would point them in the Modern direction.
However, given the sudden surge of stampede, it would be very hard for them to progress.
If they have not played in Brawls yet, accrued any Soulbound Reward Cards, or the budget/uncertainty of investing into Cards, then the struggle would be real.
Again, this attraction for Rewards should even itself out over time - it is the typical, Gold Fever, that causes the stampede.
Whales be Whaling
I couldn't play in Modern. I lean too heavily on the older cards. Like a one legged man in an arse kicking contest.
🤣are pants worn in these contests? what about socks? Flesh Golems needs neither.
