Healer Wood Nymph ~ Splinterlands Share Your Battle Challenge

Happy New Year!

Just a few weeks in 2022, and I've already been sick. I'm at least recovering now, so it's all good. But it's a bummer that I wasn't able to play much of Splinterlands when I was down for over a week. So come season end, I unsurprisingly dropped back to the Bronze Leagues XD

I often rely on leveled-up cards with unlocked skills to get me through matches, so Bronze's low level cap will be tough to crack for me. With my hands tied, I'm resorting to the one thing that almost always works, especially when you are on all on Level 1 cards --

Magic +1 Summoners

Magic is unhindered by armor and never misses. And with a Magic attack buff, you'll transform those tiny, Magic-based Level 1 monsters into bonafide glass canons that can easily trash cards with high health (if they got no Void protection).

And just my luck, I can conveniently pair this week's Share Your Battle Challenge featured card --Wood Nymph to a new Earth splinter summoner from the Chaos Legion edition.

My Lineup

With the goal of, hopefully, snagging easy wins with +1 Magic and doing the battle challenge, I'll be including these two on my lineup. Wood Nymph already has significant utility as a tank healer, but with the magic attack buff afforded by the new Chaos Legion summoner, Obsidian, you can count Wood Nymph as a decent attacker too.

I'm going all out on Magic monsters to take full advantage of my summoner's Magic attack buff. And good thing that there's a new Chaos tank card in town, the Mycelic Slipspawn, so I don't have to opt for a physical damager on the frontline. Its Taunt skill would also keep my extremely fragile backline from harm's way. Since I got a monster with Taunt to soak up all the damage, I'm doubling down on the healing with another new Chaos card -- Goblin Psychic.

I'll then be adding as many Magic monsters as the allowed mana pool permits. Goblin Sorcerer and Khmer Princess are a few among these mana budget-friendly monsters that will boost my Magic army.

The Battle

It seems like my opponent has the same ideas as I. They got a summoner with an attack buff and an army of monsters to make use of that buff. There's also a high-health tank monster with Taunt. The key difference is that I'm betting on Magic while they're banking on Ranged attacks.

Here are the stats of the cards after buffs and debuffs are applied. All low-attack monsters on both sides are primed and ready.

Within the Bronze league, monsters are limited to level 1s or 2s. We got a somewhat even lineup. Whoever defeats the primary tank first is likely to take the victory. And I was so close to losing my tank first, which barely hang on with one HP.

But my two healers were able to bring my tank's health back up a bit while managing to take out the enemy's tank.

Magic just simply wins over Ranged attacks. It's unblockable and ignores armor. Once the opponent's frontline tank is gone, the backline is easily decimated. This battle resulted in my overwhelming victory.

To End

Is Wood Nymph a good card to play? An easy yes. Its Tank Heal is already enough reason to include this card on your team, but with the new "+1 Magic" summoner for the Earth splinter, Wood Nymph can become a formidable attacker too.
