Fire & Regret ruleset in Splinterlands - Do we need more rules to weaken ranged attacks?

So we are back from Easter festivities right into Splinterlands.
It is not the Splinterverse anymore and there are no reward chests anymore. The Tower Defense game has been sold and the last season has passed that could have made you get reward chests! Do you already miss those? -I personally do!

However let's look like there is still a bright future ahead for the gameplay.

The ruleset of the week is called "Fire & Regret" and this one is in my opinion another of those that give ranged attacks even more of a disadvantage. Its rules read the following: "All units receive the Return Fire ability at the start of the battle. Enemy units that attack with ranged attacks receive damage back.

Damage returned is equal to damage of the attacker divided by 2, rounded up.
Ranged attack units with the Reflection Shield ability do not take damage from reflected magic attacks.
The Amplify ability increases damage."

So basically it works like "whenever you deal ranged damage, you get half the damage to yourself in return, as well".

Let us look at this battle of mine:

My idea and according reaction in response to "Fire & Regret" ruleset was to avoid ranged attacks as best as I could and ... go with my beloved magic attack setup. ;)
My opponent had a somewhat different idea, but still mostly avoided ranged attacks, as well.

Round 1 did not go too well for me. I lost a unit (I would rather have kept) to my opponent's Gobson Gladiator and my Martyr unit was still alive.

Round 2 however was developing more of into my favor as I was able to take two enemy units off the board and got my opponent's Gobson into front row position. My Mycelia was even able to dodge one of Gobson's attacks. All the while my magic attack lineup was ready for its next activation.

In Round 3 you should already have the idea how the battle ended up. I won.
Just prior to the above screenshot you could have seen the effect of "Fire & Regret". My opponent's Fungus Flinger just shot and got itself some damage, too because of the ruleset.
Btw. do you see that both "Martyr" ability units are still on the battlefield?!

Anyways what is my conclusion? -It is the following: "Fire & Regret" is best used by avoiding to include ranged attack units in your battle's lineup! If you are lucky your opponent does not realize it and you will deal some damage for free.
However it is another ruleset even further crippling ranged damage. I do not know if we needed another of these?
