Rise of the Commons ruleset in Splinterlands - makes your lineup more affordable!

So folks it is another week and we are grinding endlessly. Do not know if it is the way to go forward for a game. :(
The much anticipated tower defense game Soulkeep is still in the making and has not yet been released. Land is probably well on its way, but still not there neither.

However I was asked to confirm new Terms Of Service when logging into Splinterlands. I would have loved to see only the terms that have been changed and perhaps even get an explanation what this means in terms of user experience. The way it was handled this time seems a bit intransparent to me.
From other authors however I got it that the change in TOS was in preparation of banning bots from brawls.
You are very welcome to leave a comment under this post if you know more than I found out! :)

Don't get me wrong: I agree with banning Bots from Brawls! However before allocating resources on enforcing further restrictions on the playerbase would it not be a more positive approach to deliver new (and promised and long-waited for) features, first?

However let us leave the field of politics and look at one of my battles!

This week it is about the "Rise of the Commons"!
-Really like this title, although the rules allow Rare cards to be used, too.

They read: "Only common and rare units may be used in battles.

Summoners are unaffected by this rule."

My opponent and I both went with an Earth Splinter Obsidian line-up. He invested in an expensive main tank while I went with a cheap alternative and a Regal Peryton instead. -I really like the Regal Peryton because I find him very much versatile!

Round 1 saw me at an disadvantage due to late activation, though. While my opponent's Mycelic Infantry got healed, my Hill Giant did not as he had not taken any damage when my Goblin Psych activated.

Still in Round 2 I took the enemy's Mycelic Infantry off the board and with it a lot of my opponent's mana points. However it was obvious that my Hill Giant would leave soon, too.

And already at the end of Round 2 my team started to attack the last of my opponent's dangerous units: Goblin Psych!

Goblin Psych managed to heal himself once more, but in the end it was mighty Fungus Flinger that threw my opponent's Goblin Psych off the board.
And looking at both my remaining units and my opponent's you can already guess how it ended up ...win!

So what do I think makes "Rise of the Commons" ruleset interesting? To me this ruleset makes Splinterlands "more affordable" in a way that no player can win by playing (expensive) legendary meta units. How often did you see Yodins, Llamas or Krons entering the board and you knew at once in this very moment you would have a hard time beating your enemy. Therefore "Rise of the Commons" eliminates the pay2win-factor a bit as most of the time rare units are still very much affordable.

You are still not into the Splinterverse, but you consider joining? -Consider using my sign-up link, too: https://splinterlands.com?ref=jdike
