Silenced Summoners ruleset in Splinterlands - go with a cheap summoner, but ...

So folks it is a new week, but no news with regard to user experience nor major ingame releases in Splinterlands.
Instead we got a taste of how bad the shape of the economy is... not very motivating, to say at least! ;)

If you do some critical reading on the announcement post you might get the impression that the DAO's funds are needed to help out the company with an advance payment. My personal opinion is that the DAO funds were never meant to make their way to the players. However for a while we were pretending that it was different... only to use those funds for stabilizing DEC-token or whatever...

However let us forget about the bad things and have more of a look at the game and a battle of mine!

Ruleset of the week is called "Silenced Summoners" which basically leaves your summoners useless, because the rules read:
"Summoners do not give any buffs/debuffs or grant/use abilities.

Use your lowest cost and highest level summoner within this ruleset."

The lineup of my battle. I went with some "classic" Water Splinter setup with Oshannus being my main tank. My opponent instead went with Life Splinter and a mixture of their (Chaos Legion) all-time favorites.
I guess the both of us would have loved to enjoy each of our summoner's bonus, but this is what "Silenced Summoners" ruleset prohibited. However none of our lineups was rendered useless by this ruleset. In other words we both looked at the rules. ;)

At the end of Round 1 I only took my opponent's Pelacor Conjurer off the board. So not much action at the beginning!

My Oshannus tanked a lot of damage until Round 3, but in the end he had to leave the board...

...luckily my opponent's Shield Knight followed and left the board soon after.
But somehow my line-up did not really look good, anymore.

However in Round 5 the winds of war had changed and thanks to lucky punches by my Deeplurker it again seemed like I would win...

...and that is what I did! Victory for team @jdike ;)

So what's in here to learn for the reader: As the fineprint of this rule above already suggested you should go with a cheap summoner in this ruleset.

However you should consider more factors: As always your summoner's level still plays a role. It might be worth to "overpay mana" regarding your summoner's cost. Because you spent a lot of ressources leveling both your chosen summoner and your units. It might be really worth overpaying!

And another factor is if you choose a "ghost card" summoner (aka the free ones). In this case you do not only get a level 1 summoner, but also one that reduces your battle rewards in case of a victory.
