Stampede ruleset in Splinterlands - I think it is barely of relevance

So it is another week and another opportunity of talking about Splinterlands. Rebellion packs have been released for presale. At the time of writing a bit more than half of them have been sold. I do not know whether this is to call it a good number or a bad one. Still if looking at the various tokens except for DEC it does not look much better than before. Not to talk of Chaos Legion packs which remain well below a dollar per unit...

So let us just have a look at the given ruleset of the week: "Stampede"

It reads: "Trample will retrigger infinitely as long as the trampling unit keeps killing other units.

Prime use case for Summoner Possibilus the Wise."

So I think this ruleset is already very limited in its use in a way that units need to have or gain "Trample" ability to really profit from this it. I don't know if its worth choosing units just to profit from Stampede.

Let's have a quick view on a random battlefield while "Stampede" ruleset is active here:

So we already get our first impression by looking at this lineup: Do you see any units with "Trample" ability?
As for the rest of the lineup. Both me and the opponent had somewhat similar ideas. However I went with a more melee-oriented setup, my opponent chose to focus more on ranged attack.

My opponent got beaten kind of hard in Round 1. His Night Ghoul was about to leave the board and Cursed Windeku was already leaving the board at the moment the above screenshot was taken. Here my opponent's weakness started to prevail: After losing several melee-attack units his ranged-attack units would be in front line...

round2.png

We are in Round 2 and you see I got some casualties, but as predicted only Arachne Thug needed to leave the board and I would start attacking my opponent's ranged-attack units.

That happened quite soon, though and the battle started to meet its end...

See above the very moment my opponent's units would cease fire. Win for team @jdike !

So in conclusion did the ruleset have many effects on the outcome of this match? -Nope.
I had a additional look on some other matches of mine inluding "Stampede" ruleset. Same result. Neither me nor my opponent chose a unit with "Trample" ability.
But "Stampede" might also be just underestimated a lot... ;)

I haven't really thought about this a lot but yeah it seems I rarely use Monsters that have the Trample Ability which basically means that this new ruleset has one of the lowest interference in a Match and doesn't affect unless there is a Monster with Trample Ability on any side of the team.

Thanks for your comment!

yes... really sad to see those rulesets with low impact on games. I think / hope in (rich men's) higher leagues they get more relevance ;)
