Up to Eleven ruleset in Splinterlands - It hurt my melee units in this battle
So my dear readers, we are in another week with Splinterlands. The current state of development for land has been released and I found that some Splinterlands-related tokens saw somewhat of an increase. Let us hope this is the start in a brighter future!
Unfortunately I feel a bit like left behind for not owning land... but then again I neither have enough resources to make land work! :D
Ruleset of the week is called: "Up to Eleven".
And it reads:
"All units have the Amplify ability.
Use Thorns, Return Fire, and Magic Reflect to ensure your opponent suffers."
What effect is behind this words? -I had to learn this the hard way...
Basically this is another of those rulesets that gives your units an additional ability. "Amplify" it is, this time. So the question should rather be: Is "Amplify" relevant in my battles?
What does "Amplify"? Ingame it is said: "It increases Magic Reflect, Return Fire and Thorns damage to all enemy units by 1." So this means it is kind of a booster for passive abilities.
Here is one of my battles with "Up To Eleven" ruleset:

I went with another magic-oriented setup. Lucky for me no unit with "Magic Reflect" ability on the other side of the battlefield. Otherwise my opponent had a lot of ranged-oriented units on the field. Good for me, I thought.
But then there was my opponent's Cursed Windeku and its "Thorns" ability amplified by "Up to Eleven" ruleset. And yes it hurt! It hurt so much... Round 1 has not ended and I lost almost all of my tanks, while my opponent lost not a single one.
His Thorns ability really hurt my
In Round 3 my opponent lost at least its tank and I thought the point where his ranged attack units would cease fire and one by one come into first position was within reach.
But unfortunately it was not and my lineup was already beyond saving. I lost and my opponent still had both quite some firepower and health.
Do I think "Up to Eleven" ruleset and "Amplify" ability mattered? I think it has some point if the right units meet their counterpart. For the most part I think "Thorns" is a good ability to combine with. In most of the cases "Thorns" ability in front row will probably meet some melee attack that will get hurt.
But do I think it is a decisive ability? I think it has at least the potential to give your lineup the edge.
