This week's "Battle Mage Secrets" challenge ruleset is "Odds Ones Out" where only Monsters with "Odd Mana" costs may be used in battles. These ruleset is not that special because you just need to use monsters with Odd mana. Although, when you already have idea of monsters abilities in their respective mana points you can easily predict what your opponent what will use or what will not. Taking those advantage can make you win in the battle.

In this battle, We both use of the Summoner "Obsidian" from the Earth Splinter which buffs or gives an additional +1 magic damage to all monsters with magic damage. There are a lot of Odd Mana monsters in the Earth Splinter specially those monsters with magic damages. And we both predicted that magic damage will be more reliable in this kind of ruleset base on the mana available and in which Splinters will be use in the battle. Since "Death Splinter" is not available which is a counter to magic damages we both force to use the "Earth Splinter".

In this battle, My strategy is to focused on pure magic damage but with a sustain type of line-up. With the aid of those abilities available to each monsters it can be a good line up for countering magic damages and also for melee and range damage but limited with low damage to able to sustain incoming damages.

These are the following abilities present in my line-up: Shield, Void, Triage, Ressurect, Slow, Silence, Taunt.

Positioning will be crucial here for the team to be able for them to work as a team and for the strategy to be executed properly. For example the positioning of the Taunt monster, you cannot put it in the front because it can't be healed by the triage ability it should be anywhere at the back for it to sustain itself.

Summoner: Obsidian - Gives buff or additional +1 damage to all magic monsters in the line-up. From the Earth Splinter and from Chaos Legion Edition set.

First Position: Lord Arianthus - It is used to defend monsters who attack in the first position and to soaked up magic damage first. It has the ability reduce the magic damage and melee and range damage which is good to use as a tank. Although it has a maximum of 6 health so it should have a healer for it to sustain itself.

Second Position: Spirit Horder - This monster is used to heal the Taunt Monster at the back at the same time dealing magic damage.

Third Position: Spirit Druid Grog - This has a 1 health only so be careful in placing it. This is used to deal fair damage and also to "Resurrect" monsters who will die first in this case it will resurrect the Mycelic Slipspawn which favors my line up.

Fourth Position: Creeping Ooze - 1 mana monster which able to slow opponents monsters speed by -1. This makes my line-up to attacks first which favors in my strategy.

Fifth Position: Mushroom Seer - This is a good monster when countering magic damage monsters where it has the ability to reduce opponents magic attacks by -1.

Sixth Position: Mycelic Slipspawn - With its ability, this monster will be receiving all damages from the opponents attacks when they can. To make it more sustainable in the battle put some monsters who can help him. Like triage abilities, protect abilities and etc.

Observation:

My opponents line up is a bit confusing because it uses "Obsidian" as summoner but it did not utilize its strength properly. There are only 2 monsters with magic damage present in the line up. Next is the use of those martyr abilities even though it uses a Taunt monster. This makes its line up not to deal enough damage and the martyr monsters are useless.

By the way this is a Bronze League.
