Analysing The Gold League, Changes & Season's Reward
I set out to finish with 45 gold chests in the new system of play on splinterlands and I did one better; I finished with 46 chests and to crown it all, I finished in the elusive Gold one. I was staring at Diamond Three from afar off, and it's a beautiful stuff of champions. Previously, all I could do was play in Gold 3 in the previous system, and every effort to head into Gold 2 was always futile.
However in the last season, I didn't just head into Gold 2, I played comfortably there. Matching my opponents 50% of the time. Obviously, my SPS earnings were better. They were no longer in the range of 0.2s per battle, they are now in the mid-level of 0.3 and I even earned 0.6 SPS for one particular battle I played and won.
Gold 2 Became My New Normal
I almost played all my season in Gold 2 and I was lucky to put together some decent wins to finish with 46 chests as well as finishing in Gold One. I played about 10 games in Gold One if not more, and while I wasn't exactly slaughtered, I held my ground and won about 40% of the games I played in Gold One, plus or minus.
Of course, this is where the big boys were and I held my ground to finish there.
Earning Gold Focus Rewards Is Cumulatively Better
Getting daily Gold focus reward was very good, it was nice to earn some good SPS.
I didn't really get a lot of SPS in my season's reward, but the truth is that I got some epic cards and a legendary as well. I made up for not getting SPS by earning some decent SPS throughout my games and in the chests too. So these rewards are not bad, they're just about okay, and I will try my best to do better.
Maybe finishing with 46 chests is a fluke, maybe it's only a one-time thing, but I won't know for sure. I want to earn more SPS as well as finish in Gold One again.
My target will be nothing less than 40 chests again.
Overall, the Gold League became easier for me. At least I can now comfortably play in Gold 3 and Gold 2. Anyone with an average-sized deck can now play comfortably in these two tiers. Although you'll need to be very daring, as well as skillful, then the element of luck too.
If you don't have a lot of money, playing in the modern league is a fool's game. I know it's very rewarding there, but then you'll need a lot of money to play in the top end of the Silver League, not to talk of the Gold League. I aim to own more SPS, so I can comfortably compete in the WILD Gold league.
The Wild Format Isn't Bad
The SPS is nothing compared to what you'll earn in modern, but Wild got better for players who know what they're doing. You need to also focus on playing yourstipulated daily focus element or Ruleset, to earn more SPS, but you'll need a smaller amount to get established in the Gold league. If you're a hot shot with a couple thousand of dollars to spare, then give the Modern format a shot.
The money there is unbelievable and the benefits are incomparable. Overall, the new system did favor me in the first season, it's left to see if this trend will continue, but it was a far more enjoyable experience.
Merit Rewards Are Underestimated
I also got more Merit, I'm still building my Stash of Gladius cards. They've really come in handy in recent games. Gladius cases are one way to earn some incredible amount of DEC, especially if your guild is helping you earn a lot of merit, you will eventually become lucky to pull some incredible cards that can give you equivalent in thousands of DEC "if" they're burned.

Good to hear you holding your own in gold and I think the rewards can be good in wild because everyone wants modern.
True, everyone wants to be in Modern, but if one doesn't have enough money then it really becomes difficult. I just want to keep managing my deck and competing with it.

Way to go! You got some good summoners and gold foils! The legendary isn't bad either! I didn't pull any legendary cards this time around but got a jackpot chest for one hundred SPS which was cool.
I like large merit chests, Gladius cards can be very helpful. I'm still hoping for more Quora copies to level up to level two. No luck so far! Most gold foils I pull in Gladius cards I tend to end up burning because my normal foils are so much stronger. The exception to that would be epics or legendary which I almost never see!

A 100 SPS plus is a beautiful haul, that would definitely go a long way. Truly I pulled some really good cards and this was my consolation and hopefully I get to do more of that in the course of the season. Congratulations. I've burned some could foil for DEC. Like you, the regular version felt stronger. I wish it was like that for soulbound cards too.
My trip since Wednesday, I came back yesterday late at night traveling through the east. It was a travel of bo water, no toilets, mosquitoes and sleeping in sub par places. Hopefully I'm not infected by all the germs and mosquitoes.
I hope not too, I hate mosquitos! When I lived in the Caribbean I always worried about Dengue fever since it's carried by those little vampires. Luckily I never got it even though I was bit all the time!

It would be nice to be able to burn the soulbounds for DEC. Some of them I just have too many copies and a couple I have already maxed out. Maybe they will make that change in the future!

Dengue fever is one of the worst, malaria is even more terrible. I'm hoping I haven't caught it, because one way to know is the fever and the anemia that comes with it. It was a rough experience with that travel, and I hope I won't have to do that in a long time, God willing.
True, having a maxed out GC Means you can just burn them for those precious DEC which is extra funds if you ask me.

The one good thing about sickle cell is it protects you somewhat from malaria, but can't prevent it completely. I hate mosquitos!
Mine doesn't lool it attacks me full on, untill the anemia hits full force. The last brutal one was 2021, I could barely walk for one month haha

The gold reward is not so easy, you have put in a lot of hard work and within this season you have received this reward and we will see that with only a short time left, we will see a lot of increase in the prices of things.

Nice legendary card there. Those summoners are also pretty good for leveling up too. That's a good tip about burning the gladiator cards. Had completely forgot about that.
