Splinterlands: Guild Play Vs Ranked Battle

png_20231230_104425_0000.png

Ranked battles on Splinterlands is fun, however, you don't get to earn SPS consistently on all two formats which are the modern and wild. Modern is more lucrative, as I made mention of a person who actually earns $8 worth of SPS a day, winning 18 to 19 games and playing in modern. That figure might be slashed in three if they were playing in wild, and this generally means that playing in modern is the creme de la creme of splinterlands.

However, playing in modern isn't cheap, I think there are some generations of cards that are simply not accepted in modern anymore and this goes to show that while the money is in the modern format of the game, wild provides a consolidated and solidity even if the money is smaller. We know the bots still play in wild and this isn't going to change anytime soon because of the money that comes from the bot and rental economy.

However, splinterlands is still a game that needs to be enjoyed, if not, then it's not fulfilling its primary aim of being a game even if people want to emphasize its other properties of being called a game. Now this is where the Guild Play comes in. For me, I don't think the Guild Play is merely for earning SPS alone. Since the ECR limit came into play, the Guild Play has been an extra way to create more game involvement which is vital to the retention and continuation of Splinterlands as a game.

Now I won't completely say the Guild Play is better, and neither will I make a comparison. I'll only say the Guild is a compliment to the regular ranked Battle mode that was there before the introduction of the latter. However, when it comes to the psychological experience, both modes of the game are enjoyable, but I like to think that the Guild Play is more lucrative, especially if you're coming from the wild format of the game. In reality, I don't know where I've earned more SPS, but looking at it, I like to think it's the ranked battles because I've been playing there for over two years.

However, the expectations and the excitement that come with the different modes differ. I haven't forgotten about Splinterlands tournament as well, but all these game modes combine to make Splinterlands compete with some of the most sophisticated gamification out there.

So I'm back to the 20 SPS range for Guild Play. It's been over 4 months since I earned 20 SPS from any Guild participation, and it feels good this time around. I think this is a collective effort, as the Guild members came to the party as we did collectively well. I won four games and lost three, not a good result by my standard, but very decent too.

So, I've gotten one of my soulbound summoners at level 5. The Helios Matriarch is a rare dragon summoner and probably one of my biggest level summoners, since my elegant level 2 GFL summoner Possibilius the Wise. The reason I'm happy with this is that having this card at level 5 means I can play across all elements especially when I play in the gold league.

At the moment, I'm only playing in the Gold league, two days to the end of the season, so having complete sets of level 5 summoners means I can play more in the Gold league, but until then, the opportunity that comes with accumulating soulbound summoners cannot be overemphasized.

Both are rough for me. I have been trying to get to Gold rank to end the season and I keep losing a lot. It's been rough for me in tier 3 brawls as I have been consistently losing a lot. The new modern changes are hitting me quite hard.
