Splinterlands Art Contest Week 237! | Igor DarkSpear Fanart

Good day Splinterlands and Alienart Hive, after almost a month of hiatus i am back again in action, I've decided to try to post my art now as much as possible every other day so that I could also hone my skills in digital arts again, as me and my bros and sis are planning to establish a shirt printing business here in our place (Laguna, Philippines). Anyway back to the subject at hand in this week's contest I chose Igor Darkspear as the character in Spinterlands I wanted to create a fanart of. As a fan of One Piece anime it reminded me of the fishmen like jinbei or along I think that's high likely one of the reason I chose him as my subject for today. Now let's move on to the drawing process.

Drawing Process

I started by drawing the rough draft with the default pen tool from photoshop in this case i used the one with opacity and flow pressure. I imagine Igor in a pose that lets him hold his spear using his left hand with an angry face as explained in his lore that as settlers or explorers are trying to navigate or invade their place Igor became more angrier. Actually i am recently inspired by MCU and Murata's art style where they tend to intensify the black inks like the manga art as well and i am just applying what i learned from Lee Inhyuk's art class.

Then i colored starting from the skin with pretty much almost if not quite the same with the original design of Igor Darkspear, then applying the shadows by adding a layer above it then clip mask then change it to multiply so that it intensifies the color you are adding into.

Lastly is just basically conceptualizing the backgrounds on how i could make it look like he is underwater.
