Masur Daal

Hello friends, how are you all? I hope you're doing well and enjoying the month of September. Today, I'm sharing a delicious recipe for Masur ki daal that can be enjoyed even without any side dishes. Let's find out what you need and how to make it.

To make Masur ki daal, you'll need the following ingredients:


  1. 250 grams of Masur daal
  2. 3 onions
  3. Some garlic cloves
  4. Green chilies
  5. A small piece of ginger
  6. Spices: 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala, salt to taste
  7. Fresh coriander for garnish

Here's how to prepare it:

  1. Soak the Masur daal for 30 minutes.
  2. Chop the onions, garlic, green chilies, and ginger.
  3. Prepare all the spices.
  4. In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add cumin seeds, and let them brown. Then add the chopped onions.
  5. Once the onions turn golden brown, add the daal and spread it evenly. On top of that, add the garlic paste, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt.

  1. Cook on low heat for about 3 whistles, then let it cool.
  2. After cooking, your daal should look something like this. It's now ready to be served with parathas, rice, roti, or any other dish of your choice.
