- A small piece of ginger
- Spices: 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1/2 teaspoon of coriander powder, 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala, salt to taste
- Fresh coriander for garnish
Here's how to prepare it:
- Soak the Masur daal for 30 minutes.
- Chop the onions, garlic, green chilies, and ginger.
- Prepare all the spices.
- In a pressure cooker, heat oil, add cumin seeds, and let them brown. Then add the chopped onions.
- Once the onions turn golden brown, add the daal and spread it evenly. On top of that, add the garlic paste, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, coriander powder, and salt.
- Cook on low heat for about 3 whistles, then let it cool.
- After cooking, your daal should look something like this. It's now ready to be served with parathas, rice, roti, or any other dish of your choice.
