BATTLE MAGE SECRETS : LITTLE LEAGUE RULESET

Cover Template Battle Mage.png

Little League curb both formation to deploy cards that cost 4 mana or less. Strategy and selection for cards become more important because formation will have at most 28 mana to deploy (which includes max 4 mana for summoner). It might simplified the battle, but for some battle its not always the case.

Pros & Cons

1. Having a diverse and rich cards below 4 mana would be a great advantage.
1. The problem with Little League, 4 mana card is not the pinnacle mana level which had the most number of cards (5, 6, and 7 mana is the level which had the most number of cards collection). So combined with the 1, 2, and 3 mana collection, players still have a limited selection to be used.
2. The 4 mana card is the transition phase where cards start to shift from 1 damage to 2 damage (either melee, ranged, or mana). So players will gain advantage by having those limited cards possessing 2 damage.
2. No advantage from utilizing excess mana when on high mana cap battle. So use your head and strategy better than using your Collection Power

Best Cards To Use.gif

Best Cards To Use

Some cards fare much better than other cards. Take for example Igor Darkspear, a 2 mana ranged card, which possessed 2 speed and 4 health. Its fare much stronger than Goblin Darting or Herbalist.

But the best rules of thumb are still employing 4 mana cards as much as possible. Here the table below shows the whole melee cards collection for 4 mana cards. You could find the list for ranged cards and magic cards in my previous post (The Insight On 4 Mana Cards)

The battle has 35 mana cap, with Little League as the rulesets; while only Water and Life Splinters may be used. For my formation, I used:

PositionCard NameLevelManaHealthArmorSpeedDamage TypeDamage
SummonerKelya Frendul24-----
1st RowXenith Monk246-3Melee1
2nd RowRiver Nymph143-2Magic1
3rd RowFeasting Seaweed142-1Melee2
4th RowMerdhampir345-3Ranged1
5th RowKulu Swimhunter144-2Ranged2
6th RowClockwork Aide14171None-

My opponent formation:

PositionCard NameLevelManaHealthArmorSpeedDamage TypeDamage
SummonerCamila Sungazer13-----
1st RowCruel Sethropod33432Melee2
2nd RowTide Biter234-4Melee2
3rd RowDhampir Infiltrator243-2Melee1
4th RowUraeus23212Melee2
5th RowKulu Swimhunter345-3Ranged2
6th RowDoctor Blight144-1Magic1
I gained the upper hand on this battle by minimalizing my 4 mana cards on the entire position. Xenith Monk is one of my favorite 4 mana `Tanker`, having a solid 6 health and `Healt`; in addition 3 speed is already higher than average. I put River Nymph into 2nd row as a countermeasure against shielded enemies. Feasting Seaweed will be my damage-dealer with 2 melee damage and Opportunity. Merdhampir take 4th row to be a support attack, but the main intention was as a 2nd barricade to protect Kulu Swimhunter. Kulu Swimhunter will be my 2nd damage dealer and will be quite covered in this position. Clockwork Aid is quite a gamble, taking a non-attack cards just to gain additional speed buff pose a risk that my formation will have insufficient firepower.

My opponent decided to take Camila Sungazer, a rare summoner, unfortunately the melee damage debuff ineffectively only affect Seaweed. My opponent really show a powerful damage output. The entire 5 row are filled with cards having 2 damage. Cruel Sethropod at Level 3 not only a dangerous Tanker but also a breacher with its 2 damage. Tide Biter with Reach will be an additional challenges. The next 2 rows are melee cards with Sneak attack, both dealing 2 damage. Fortunately its a wise decision for me to have Clockwork Aide with 7 shield. Kulu Swimhunter will also be a damage dealer. And lastly Doctor Blight will take roles similar to River Nymph, only that the Affliction will shut off Xenith Monk's Heal.

image.png

With double speed buff, my formation lead entirely in the first round strike. The assault open with 4 cards from my formation strike directly into Cruel Sethropod leaving stood with 3 health. Tide Biter and Kulu Swimhunter strike into Xenith Monk, and later followed with Cruel Sethropod and Doctor Blight, bringing it down to 1 health remaining. Clockwork Aide also under siege but stood still with 4 armor remaining.

image.png

Merdhampir leech the health out of Cruel Sethropod increasing its health by 1. Xenith Monk lucky enough to not affected by Affliction and thus able to heal 2 health. River Nymph follow with a killing blow into Cruel Sethropod. But before long, Xenith Monk have to meet its end from Kulu Swimhunter strike. Clockwork Aide managed to survive the round but lost all of its armor.

image.png

The battle continue into 3rd round, and there's a massive blow coming, as my formation make a serial killing into Tide Biter and Dhampir Infiltrator. With this Clockwork Aide is no longer under threat. But River Nymph already at its tipping point, and finally it meet its demise when Uraeus and Kulu Swimhunter rain down strike upon it. The round end with Doctor Blight cast a single damage into Feasting Seaweed.

image.png

The tide start to favor upon me, when Uraeus was brought down by Medhampir. Now Kulu Swimhunter have to step up the first row, meaning my opponent only left with Doctor Blight to attack. Feasting Seaweed have to yield against Doctor Blight and left the battle.

image.png

At the start of Round 5, the battle shows high chances for my victory. Its only matter of time for Kulu Swimhunter to deal a total 3 attack to finish Doctor Blight. And there's seemed to chances for Doctor Blight to catch up cracking Medhampir huge 8 health. And so the victory was truly mine.

Conclusion.gif

CONCLUSION

To be truth, I didn't have the upper hand on this battle, considering by formation have lesser health and lesser damage output. A 4 mana card will reach at most 2 damage, which means its an advantage to be able to gaining this maximal damage. My opponent bring 5 cards with 2 damage, 2 of them having Reach ability. But my key for victory had come from the high gear formation. The double speed buff had propel my whole formation to take earlier act, leaving my opponent caught in an ambush and got eliminated before they able to act. I've understood the multiple importance of speed is not something to be underestimated (please find my latest post, THE SPEED THAT MATTERS).

Other than that, I have to thanks for Clockwork Aide which defend the back-door and protect Kulu Swimhunter from being ambushed.
