BATTLE MAGE SECRETS : STAMPEDE

image.png

Stampede ruleset could be considered an underutilized and redundant ruleset. Mainly due to it will only affect Trample ability. Meanwhile across Splinters, there are only 10 cards to possess this ability from Modern format (excluding Gladiator). The only best way to utilize this ruleset is by having Possibilus The Wise, which grant Trample to entire formation. Trample is already very difficult ability to trigger since it triggered only by killing the target. Then again, the benefit of Stampede will only come if 2 (two) or more successive kills are made to the opposing formation, which is even far more difficult. The effect itself is also redundant so much, considering making double kill would already handicap the opponent and cost them a lot.

Pros & Cons

1. With limited number of cards possessing Trample ability, Possibilus The Wise will come out as a trump card for battle under this ruleset. That is to say any players deploying Possibilus The Wise will gain the utmost advantage from this ruleset.
1. There's no particular disadvantage with this ruleset. Except against Possibilus The Wise, its almost make no difference whether this rulest is exist or not. Trample possessed mostly by Melee cards with no target-altering abilities; which means they are easily predicted to stood in the front row. Deploying Taunt, Protect, and Strengthen are the best way to preserve the front-row.

Best Cards To Use.gif

Best Cards To Use

Since Trample mostly possessed by ordinary Melee cards, having tough health and armor is an important aspect. But beyond that, increasing the chance to deal the killing blow is far more important. Grund and Oaken Behemoth should be the best cards for this rulest, considering their ability to deal double attack in a round. Both also started with a mediocre 3 speed, which will allow to have good initiative and avoid being picked down in early round.

The battle has the minimum 27 mana cap, with Stampede as the sole rulesets; while only Earth and Dragon Splinters are made available.

There's no chances to deploy Trample ability with a very restricted Splinters selection. At bronze level, Desert Dragon is the only viable choice which possessed Trample at Level 1. So this battle will show no Stampede act from both my side or my opponent. I decided to go with Lob Lowland as the summoner. Together with Quora Towershead, Lob Lowland have been a meta for the bronze league. So I decided to go a separate ways, and instead deployed Katrelba Gobson. This gladiator is the best counter against Quora, since it will ambush the rear squad while harvesting from Bloodlust. For the front-row defense line, I pick Failed Summoner and Centauri Mage for their dominant health. The last 2 row consist of Djinn Biljka and Uraeus which should help deal additional damage.

Across my side, my opponent decided to go with Quix The Devious. The speed debuff and ranged debuff are useful, but they are very much situational. The formation is led Fungus Flinger, a sacrificial lamb to boost the succeeding card; which Djinn Chwala. Djinn is a strong anti-Melee Tanker card. Luckily I didn't rely entirely on Melee cards. Their formation are followed by Goblin Psychic, Dhampir Infiltrator, and Vruz. All seemed to copy my strategy to ambush the rear squad.

I guess I pick the right decision for deploying Katrelba. Within a round, Katrelba launch double attack where both resulting in double kill, ending Vruz and Dhampir Infiltrator. By this point, Katrelba already turn into a killing maching with 4 damage, 4 speed, and 6 health. Djinn Biljka and Centauri Mage deal a minor damage which bring down Fungus Flinger, forcing Djinn Chwala to step up. Failed Summoner fall down from Djinn Chwala and Goblin Psychic strike. But the reflected damage just backfire into Goblin Psychic as it left with 2 health and being targeted by Uraeus.

Round 2 turns the tide to myself as it turns into 4 against 1. Katrelba open the round with double attack which broke down Djinn Chwala armor. But the cost is too much as Katrelba has to lost 4 health from Thorns. Centauri Mage, Djinn Biljka, and Uraeus combined for 4 damage against Djinn Chwala.

Round 3 opened with a suicide strike by Katrelba into Djinn Chwala. By this point, it didn't take long for Centauri Mage and Djinn Biljka to depleted the 2 health remaining of Djinn Chwala. And so I secured the victory for this battle.

CONCLUSION

Well this battle isn't about Stampede at all. No cards possessed Trample for this battle. But still its a good battle to see how Lob Lowland could pair up with other cards than the mainstream Quora Towershead.
