BATTLE MAGE SECRETS : UNPROTECTED
Unprotected will strip all cards from its armor traits. Beyond that, Unprotected also prevents all kinds of armor buff from taking into effect. So literally there will be no armor at all on the battlefield. This means card will rely on health entirely for defense and survival. Some abilities will become useless. Magic cards will be less potent. While speed and evasion abilities will become emboldened. So let's take a further look into this ruleset.
Pros & Cons
1. Cards with huge health and defensive abilities (such as Shield and Void) will be the most preferable Tanker for this battle. | 1. Several abilities like Piercing and Protect will be totally useless under this ruleset.
2. Card with target-altering abilities (such as Sneak, Opportunity, and Scattershot) will be more useful; considering that Armor have been the primary protective means against this ability
Best Cards To Use
Void Dragon, Lichen Beast, Tusk The Wide, and Djinn Oshannus are some of the best cards to use under this ruleset. Not only they have huge health parameter, but they also possessed defensive abilities to protect themselves.
Cards with Heal, Tank Heal, or Triage abilities are also useful as they will more likely to be triggered from any incoming damage landed directly to health.

The battle has the maximum 24 mana cap, with Unprotected as the sole rulesets; while only Water and Death Splinters are made available.
I decided to go with Water Splinter which followed similarly by my opponent. For the summoner, I deploy Pembrook Nymph, which is a very rare occasion. It's a little bit risky to use 6 mana summoner at this mana cap level. With 18 mana left remaining, I took Xenith Monk as main Tanker
. It's followed with Nerissa Tridawn, a solid Tanker
- Striker
card. For the 3rd row, I decided to put more firepower and use the Gladiator ability by deploying Isgald Vorst. Last row is filled with Torrent Fiend as sacrificial lamb against any Sneak attack. This isn't an optimal formation, but if Isgald Vorst managed to utilize its Bloodlust, the momentum might got built up.
Across the line, my opponent lead the battle with Kelya Frendul. Coincidentally the first row is filled with Xenith Monk
also. Tide Biter follow as solid damage dealer having its Reach
ability. Deeplurker fill the 3rd row with a powerful 3 damage. And when I thought the situation couldn't get any worse, Axemaster stood in the 4th row! Well this will be a hard fight to go.
Initiative has become my main element of weakness. With Kelya Frendul boosting the speed, my opponent launched a sequence of attacks which quickly ditch Xenith Monk. Deeplurker land the final blow which luckily hit into Torrent Fiend. And when my times comes, Isgald launched counter-attack against Torrent Fiend to claim its first Blodlust.
The 2nd round open with a charge against Nerissa Tridawn. But having a huge health, Nerissa stood strong. Isgald Vorst with 5 speed got chance to interfere Xenith Monk; dealing killing blow on it before it Heal itself. This propel Isgald to its 2nd Bloodlust.
By this round, Isgald Vorst has jumped into 6 speed which far exceeding all other cards. Isgald strike into Tide Biter which certainly obliterated. Isgald surge itself into 6 damage, 7 speed, and 8 health. But the battle is far from over, as Axemaster and Deeplurker managed to land a clean hit into Nerissa Tridawn and Isgald. And its now down to 2 against 1 with Isgald Vorst left with 3 health remaining.
Round 4 become a deciding moment. Isgald strike into Deeplurker but wasn't enough to make the killing blow. This allow my opponent chances to make counter-attack. Axemaster missed its 1st blow, but managed to land the 2nd blow. But unfortunately Deeplurker able to beat Isgald 7 speed to land the last blow. And so I lost the battle.
CONCLUSION
Bloodlust is clearly a potent ability which could turn the tide of battle quickly. Isgald Vorst has performed magnificently being able to claim its 3rd Bloodlust. But still anything could happen on a battle. Even a lone-wolf would fall being outnumbered in fight. I think I'm being too confident for bringing Isgald Vorst, knowing that it already loss the armor traits at the start of the battle. But the main weakness come from the lack of initiative. The blitz attack dealt my opponent really crumble down my Tanker
and defensive line. But everything come to the the finale round; if only Isgald Vorst managed to parry the last attack by Deeplurker, this fight will then surely be my victory.
