Equal Opportunity rulest is a two-edged blade. It will bestow Opportunity into all melee cards, which means all back-row melee cards will be able to strike into back-row opponent based on their lowest health. But this ability could turn into a trap; because Opportunity will strike the lowest health based on their order from the front-row. Which means if opponent predict your move, they might decided to deploy low-health high-armor before any back-row cards as a bait. Opportunity also has its own weakness, as it has the lowest priority compared to other Target Altering abilities (below Snipe). So its a fact that they easily bypassed by using melee cards with Sneak ability, or ranged or magic cards with Scattershot or Snipe ability. Without further ado, lets continue with our analysis!

Pros & Cons

1. This ruleset will allow any basic melee cards to strike from any position in the formation. This is very beneficial for some melee cards with superior damage output, but possessed Support abilities, so need to stay in the back-row survive long enough.
1. Opportunity are prone to distraction as cards with lowest health could shift from one cards to other cards. This could happened if Healing abilities, such as Triage or Heal, are in place.
2. Opportunity affect all attack types, which means ranged and magic cards without Scattershot or Snipe ability will also take effect. Magic card could turn into deadly weapon, since its able to bypass armor and will be a guaranteed damage right into the health.
2. And again, Opportunity are prone to a trap setup. Low-health high-armor cards could distract melee and ranged cards from striking more crucial cards. And magic cards which should bypass the armor could find challenge when the target itself have Void Armor.

The battle could turn into a mayhem, with Blast damage running everywhere into the mid-row. Having higher speed to make a blitz attack should be a good advantage.

Along with Up Close & Personal ruleset, all the melee will be able to actively attack in the battle. The primary strategies should be fill the whole position fully and deploying as much cards with Demoralize and Shield.

The battle has 44 mana cap, with Equal Opportunity and Are You Not Entertained? ruleset; with the only exception to Fire and Death splinter. For my formation, I used:

PositionCard NameLevelManaHealthArmorSpeedDamage TypeDamage
SummonerObsidian24-----
1st RowQuora Towershead11011-3Melee/Magic2/2
2nd RowQueen Mycelia144-1Magic1
3rd RowGoblin Psychic365-1Magic2
4th RowMycelic Slipspawn2911-2Magic2
5th RowVampiric Blossom155-2Ranged2
6th RowHunter Jarx166-2Ranged3

My opponent formation:

PositionCard NameLevelManaHealthArmorSpeedDamage TypeDamage
SummonerQuix The Devious14-----
1st RowVoid Dragon157-5Magic1
2nd RowSpirit Hoarder133-1Magic1
3rd RowUraeus23312Melee2
4th RowVenari Spellsmith143-2Magic1
5th RowSand Worm396-2Melee5
6th RowDhampir Infiltrator142-2Melee1
This isn't a good competitive battle, because my opponent under a handicap of 12 mana shorts. And even by looking into the superior magic damage buff from my formation, there's no way for my opponent to catch up against the damage barrage. I decided to use magic cards and utilized the Opportunity to sweep away directly into smaller cards. I keep 2 ranged cards as a back-up if Void might be deployed. Quora will spearhead the front-row, while keeping her health floating using Heal and Tank Heal.

I think my opponent have chosen cards wisely by taking m Void Dragon to muffle the magic damage and Quix The Devious to muffle the ranged damage. But other than that, they don't have enough damage output to breach my superior Tanker which is Quora Towershead.

The battle running fast with my opponent gained all the earlier act order. Their combined forces (and mostly from Sand Worm) managed to bring down Mycelic Slipspawn within a single round. But this advantage quickly overturned as my Mycelia Queen scored a kill on Uraeus, then Goblin Pscyhic collect its kill on Venari Spellsmith, and finally Vampiric and Hunter Jarx collect its bounty on Spirit Hoarder.

image.png

With the 2nd round started 3 against 5, my formation quickly gained the upper-hand. Quora cast its spell excellently but keep missing on its melee attack. Luckily there's Goblin Psychich and Vampiric Blossom which backup her to finish Void Dragon for good.

image.png

Once we enter the 3rd round, the fate is sealed for my opponent as there's no chances for Sand Worm to single handed deal with Quora, not even against the 4 other cards.

Conclusion.gif

CONCLUSION

This battle isn't as epic as we thought. We just got the first-hand experience of how magic cards with Opportunity was a killer weapon against low health cards by bypassing any armor aspect. The only remarkable thing about my opponent is how the lower health cards become the main target and delay damage from reaching Sand Worm as main damage dealer. If only the formation utilize its mana cap optimally, there might be better chances with stronger damage dealing cards.
